Fair enough, I'm getting my new Marauder drilled next week, care to tell me what a sucky layout looks like so i can make sure the pro shop doesn't use it on the ball?
Really now.. Shaving off part of a thumb slug isn't rocket science. People play with pitch all the time

You may be new to bowling and all, but even the most advanced and experienced bowlers go to the pro shop. I would honestly suggest going to one and making certain that it wont hurt your hand. The slightest wrong angle and you could sprain or even break something. Please be careful.
Ball9999-Were not trying to treat you like a kid! Were concerned that you dremeled half your thumb slug away to give yourself forward pitch and without the proper tools we don't want to see you hurt your thumb or ruin your ball. This is why I suggested taking it to a pro shop and have them make sure you have the forward pitch you want and that having half a thumb slug wont cause you any long term problems. If you want to work on your ball, that is your right, but, please make sure you do it properly is all i'm saying.

As for making changes to your thumb hole, there's no problem with that or how you did it. People have been doing that for years, as long as your careful.
As for if your layout sucks, if the ball isn't doing what you want and you don't match up with it then it does.
But given all the release problems you say you have, it would be hard for someone to make a accurate judgement on whether the ball is or isn't reacting properly.
As has been suggested in other posts, you need someone there. Someone who can watch you bowl and offer on site advice, a coach or pro shop guy or just a more experienced bowler who's willing to help. Just ask someone there.

Oh come on - honestly, what did you expect us to say? Wow, you're a genius for drilling into your $150+ bowling ball all by yourself? If you know better than everyone else in here who is telling you (rightly) that you probably jacked up your ball, and what you did could result in a serious injury, then why'd you even post this? You had to have known what people here would think of someone (who admitted in his own posts that he is struggling at bowling correctly) who suddenly decided to just on impulse pick up a dremel and start grinding away on their ball. You might as well have busted out the belt sander while you were at it and took the finish off the ball by hand, that's how crazy this is.
