I would bubble wrap it and ask the post office to give price based on weight.

I would put it into a ball size box with some kind of cushioning and then place that box into a slightly larger one. Postage would depend on weight and destination of the ball itself. I would ask your local post office for prices on that.

I would definately get insurance when you ship so if something were to happen the insurance would cover it. I would check with the post office,FedX and UPS and compare prices and how they recommend shipping it.

If sending it through regular mail send it with priority mail with confirmation. You will get a tracking number that you can check on your computer on the post office web site and track the package to see where it is and when it gets delivered.

Priority mail will cost a lot. Parcel post is the way to go. It's the post office version of ground shipping. Plus, you can still get tracking and delivery confirmation. I used to do shipping for a living. FexEd and UPS cost a lot if you don't have an account and get huge discounts. As far as shipping, if you have a box the ball comes in use that as an inner box, then find a slightly bigger box to put that in. Use some bubble wrap of packing peanuts. The good thing is, bowling balls are tough, just look at the abuse we put them through on a nightly basis. Bowlingball.com just double boxes balls, no packing material at all.
