PAP necessary?

I've only been bowling for about 2 months with a fingertip grip and before I bought my ball, I never knew anything about a PAP so I didn't ask my driller and he didn't question me either. I'm just wondering if my PAP is necessary since I'm not really consistent with my release or really have a release I'm comfortable with yet?

Get comfortable first and then get your PAP measured. Probably went with a standard layout and PAP which will be fine to learn with. Once your release is consistent then it comes into play more to drill for a specific reaction.

After I'm comfortable and a bit more consistent...should I get my ball re-drilled? Also I have a second ball which is a Brunswick slingshot that I use for a spare ball. I'm guessing it was drilled that way if that's possible because it bowls pretty straight. I kinda regret the purchase of it because I hate the way it sounds when it bowls...I hear its revs as I believe it's rolling over the emblem stencil...lets me know I have low revs though haha!

no you shouldn't have to get it redrilled just your new bowling balls should get it checked and drill your new ones once u no it

Depends on how far off your actual PAP is compared to the drilling. It will at least let you know what you can expect the ball to do. Most are around 4" over. If your is 3" or 5" then it will react differently. If your is only around 4 1/4" over then it won't be too bad. So how far over and whether it's up or down will determine the next step.

Well it will be a good while before I get a new ball, cause I want to focus on my game first. I am tempted though with certain balls I've seen and just hope they aren't discontinued before I get a chance to buy them.

The always come out with new ones or should I say, change the name, color and/or surface and re-release them.
Let's use the Vivid and Lucid as an example. Vivid owners said bring the surface to 4000. Viola, the Lucid uses the same core, different scent and colors, same coverstock but finished to 4000. All the companies do it.

So, from what they say, the cover is not the exact same as the Vivid finished at 4000.
