That's very true. I know of another way to tell if you have the right weight ball. You basically take a bowling ball and let it hand by your side with your arm lose. If you struggle at all the ball is to heavy. If you feel like it isn't to light or heavy it's perfect for you. Of course if it feels like it's to light you know you need to go heavier.
For younger bowlers there is an easy way to choose your weight. If your 6<= then choose a 6lb ball, 7 means 7lb ball, 8 years old 8lb ball and so on but this usually only works until your 13 or 14. But again this always depends on yourself, choose carefully.
