Using the gradient line balance hole placement, you'd want a P2 location
I have a new ball and it needs a balance hole to be Legal! I wanted to test it out a while, and see how it works, with my style! Problem is, it works GREAT JUST THE way it is! I don’t want to change Anything! I know I have to have it drilled into the ball, so is there a way to do it that does not affect the ball’s motion down the lane? It’s the Marauder Madness. ((Where is the best place to put that damn balance hole!! You know what I think about balance holes....%#&*$%$#@!!!!

Yes. Absolutely 100% there is a place where the balance hole can be drilled to not have any affect on the balls reaction. In fact, I was talking to Bruce (the guy that drills your balls) tonight, he said it will quite possibly even make it roll smoother. It has to be done. It won't affect the reaction of your ball, if you don't want it to.
James drilled the Marauder Madness, not Bruce. Thanks for the information! I might let you win Friday, or at least not try that hard! LOL….. I will give him, Bruce a call today! I don’t want to screw up this Magic Ball in any WAY shape or form!! I like the way it moves down the lanes and into the pocket JUST AS IT IS!! ……. Thanks Jason for the information! I thought maybe I might have to leave the country, and take my unbalanced Madness with ME!!! LOL
That's kind of a contradictory statement. It's saying Yes there's a place where the hole can be drilled that won't affect the balls reaction. Then in the same breath "he said it will quite possibly even make it roll smoother".
If it makes it roll smoother, then it's affecting the balls reaction!

WELL, bowl1820,,,, ((( what is the TRUTH??))) If it dosen't affect the balls reaction, then WHY does it NEED to be done? WHAT would you do with a ball thats HOT just the way it is!
I'm Guessing its to heavy and thats not allowed! if it were, there would be people on steriods throwing a 25lb ball 20mph getting godly carry.
Dude was saying two different things, if you want the ball to be exactly the same that can be done, if you wanted it even smoother that too can be done
Right dude?

I think it has to do with the weight block! Not the weight of the ball. Too much side weight, can make a ball react differently! That core that's inside the ball can, ( I think), depending on the drilling give an advantage in hook, bla,,,bla,,, bla,,,,!! I am sure somone will make this clear to us soon!! lol
I think the idea is that ball motion is
70% cover: polyester, urethane, reactive resin, it's roughness, and it's ability to absorb oil.
25% core: The RG, int RG, RG diff,
5% static weights: Finger Weight, Side Weight, Top Weight, Total Weight
It sounds like your ball is out of specs on the static weights.
This would make the ball illegal to use in USBC competition.
A properly placed weight hole will effect neither the cover nor the core, just the static weights
Personally I don't see how this is possible, so I interpret no change to the core as a change that won't effect the shape that the core creates.
Yeah. I mean, nothing can change with the reaction, or if you want, it can be made to roll smoother. Regardless, if you're using it in any sanctioned event (leagues, tournaments) it's illegal to use and it can be weighed and it's going to fall back on the pro shop. How likely is it that the ball gets weighed? Probably extremely unlikely, but that doesn't mean a pro shop is going to take their chances. They have to do things the right way.
