I won't even post the scores because it was 9 pin no tap - series was 734 - but I will talk a bit about it.
I hate 9 pin no tap - I used to play quite a bit in tournaments on Saturday nights and that was ok but I hate it at the end of a bowling season. It makes sub-par bowlers feel like super stars. Personally I know I could throw it straight up the middle and get 9 all day - because I have done it.
And this Saturday league I was super happy to get invited - been waiting for a few years for an opportunity - but it ended poorly. The team broke up because 2 people are moving to Texas. The 2 that I joined because of. And the overall vibe was just poor at the end. I bowled poor - maybe as a result? It got so bad my own team was betting against me in the end. The other team mate wants to keep bowling with me and I like him but 1 of the other 2 people they want to bowl I can't stand. I am sick of the bowling alley - very poorly maintained and it's always 1,000 degrees in there. I don't know what I should do. Maybe he will call me and tell me the other bowler doesn't want to bowl next year. If it was me, him and his son-in-law I would definitely bowl.
So the 9 pin no tap. I started out first game poorly but ended with a decent score after throwing 6 or 7 in a row - 1 was a no tap the rest were all natural. Seemed like a lot of work for a 225. So, of course, some super star in their mind bowler threw a 300 first game - mostly no tap strikes. So then my goal was to do the same so we had to at least split the money for high game. 2nd game was a non event - mostly natural strikes. Third game I threw a 9 pin no tap strike first frame and then threw 8 natural strikes. 10th frame all lined up and the ball lost all it's energy before it hit the pocket - 8. Ended up with a 266 and another bad taste in my mouth.
I think I am going to have to respectfully decline bowling there next year and find another league to bowl with my wife and a couple of other people - 1 from my Tuesday league.
