I bowled a tournament this weekend and out of 4 games my high was 189 and I missed the cut by 40+ pins. I wasn't too pleased with that performance.

1/6/13- 198/247,222 - 667- one of my better nights. Oil was fresh and only had to move about 2 boards the whole night.
1/7/13- 203/235/169- 607- last game started out great with a turkey and all downhill from there.

Bill, how do you manage to combine high scores while losing so many pins in count?

280, with a 10 pin in the first frame. If you missed the 10 pin, your max score would be 279, so logically you made the spare. A 280 would require you to throw the next 10 in a row, then a 0 count losing 10 pins in count.

You only have at most 2 opportunities to lose count while still shooting a game over 270. Somehow in those 2 chances you managed to lose 9 pins.
