    Default Lucid vs. anything else?

Alright. I am wondering what is the most consistent/forgiving ball for heavy oil? A couple of my friends have this ball and one of them cant control it, and the other one says it does not hook enough. so im a little confused. any opinions?

One of the hardest things in bowling is to match the bowler to a ball AND layout for the conditions they are facing. It's one reason I have so many balls for what appear on paper to be the same lane conditions, i.e. heavy, medium, light.
There are days where one release feels easier to duplicate than another therefor the same bowler (me) will need a different layout, sometimes even with the same ball. Plus the same ball will react differently depending on what style I'm using at that particular time. I've been known to use different styles with the same ball, getting a different reaction on each of a pair of lanes.
Take the two of us. Even when I'm cranking it and our speed is about the same, your slightly higher rev rate would have that ball react differently than when I use it.
The Lucid is a good ball but like any ball, if it doesn't match well to the bowler due to design or layout, it's useless.

as far as forgiving goes a virtual gravity nano and lucid probably arent on the list. both balls have the potential to hook a lot with the cores and covers they have...by forgiving do you mean predictable? I would try a manic. one of the more forgiving balls out there. if you are looking for hook not many balls will hook more than a vg nano...if you are looking for a more consistent roll mayb try a pearl ball...

Take a look at Seismic's Raging Bull. Nice strong predictable piece for the heavy soup. But as Bill has stated, it's all gonna be relative to matching the layout with the ball and bowler.

Yeah as others stated one ball will work differently for everyone. I throw a good hook with my Marauder Madness, so I let my cousin try it to see how it worked for him. He somehow turned my ball that hooks well into something that hardly hooked at all. It is all based on style. His style is weird and he throws a very small hook through the middle, which gets him to throw many Brooklyns. It works for him and I would put him in the category of "doesn't matter what ball he throws".

A guy on my team has a "drop the ball" style where it looks like he drops the ball before he gets through his entire swing, works for him although so awkward.

ya I mean predictable. Thats why i was thinking about the lucid. It is a very strong ball and it has a pearl coverstock. I really just want a Very strong very consistent ball.

If you want a predictable read, pick a ball with a low diffrential. The RG and diff change with drilling but starting low(er) will help keep it low. Low diff. balls have a more predictable read than their counterparts.
