"A light bulb is hanging in a room behind a closed door. There are three switches in the hallway outside the room. One of these switches belongs to that light bulb. The light bulb is not lit and the switches are in off state. There is only one chance to visit the room. How can it be determined which of these switch is connected to the light bulb?"

Assuming that these are incandescent light bulbs, turn on 1st switcch for few minutes and then turn it off. Then turn on second switch & enter the room. If the bulb is lit then the second switch is the answer - if not then touch the bulb with your finger to see if it is warm. If so, then the switch is first one you tried. If neither is the case, then your answer is switch #3.

Well done again and the bulb doesn't need to be incandescent, no light bulb's are 100% efficient at this point in time

The gold is in the first box making the first message False, the second True, and the third False.

The gold being in either the second or third boxes would make 2 true and only 1 false.

3.There are three boxes in a table. One of the box contains Gold and the other two are empty. A printed message contains in each box. One of the message is true and the other two are lies.
The first box says 'The Gold is not here'.
The Second box says 'The Gold is not here'.
The Third box says 'The Gold is in the Second box'.
    Which box has the Gold?

It has to be box #1.

I stand by my opinion that you can have half a hole. I also stand by my opinion that this is stupid and we should be discussing bowling.

Now please veryone stop the flashing avatars! They are getting old.

Few things, first this is the everything talk section, if you wanted bowling, go to the bowling sections. second, thank you for calling my thread stupid, not once did i say your opinion was incorrect, i simply stated that without making assumptions on the size of each hole there is no way to answer this question, and that is the point, the whole idea of this was to make you think outside of the box and look at different perspectives, i see your perspective but you call mine stupid, thanks.

Definition of a hole: "A hollow place in a solid body or surface."

by that definition, regardless of its dimensions, it would still be considered a hole, saying "half a hole" is incorrect english, to properly state this you would say "a hole of half the size"

I am done arguing with you. I did think outside the box, but you are still saying there is no such thing as half a hole. Which I say there is, no matter the depth there can still be half. You are right this is the everything talk section and I will stay out.

Sorry for ranting I just find these kind of questions useless.
No need to comment I am done.
