PBA members and amateurs don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of PBA history! Help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the PBA Tour by competing in the upcoming Open tournaments --- the Denny’s Dick Weber Open, the Etonic Marathon Open and the 66th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open.

The 2009 Denny’s Dick Weber Open, taking place Feb. 3-8 at Fountain Bowl in Fountain Valley, Calif., is a special “throwback” event, with all PBA members and amateurs eligible to participate. The entire field will bowl 15 games of qualifying after which the top 24 will bowl round-robin match play. The top five bowlers will advance to the stepladder finals.

And who wouldn’t want to spend February in L.A?

The Etonic Marathon Open at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind. Feb. 23-March 1 gives bowlers a chance to take part in an Open event in the middle of the country, not just on both coasts anymore.

With 54 games contested on six PBA lane oil patterns, this is the most grueling qualifying event of the year, testing an open field’s stamina and versatility (similar to the PBA Tour Trials format). The players who last until the final stepladder finals are truly the most deserving of the week, with the eventual top qualifier given a great opportunity to choose the lane oil pattern for the TV finals.

Are you up for the challenge?

The 66th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open, taking place March 30-April 5, 2009 at Brunswick Zone Carolier in North Brunswick, N.J., will serve as a great end to a very exciting PBA Tour season.

The U.S. Open was founded in 1942 as the BPAA All-Star and became the U.S. Open in 1971. Like the USBC Masters, it is open to both amateurs and professionals. Besides being the PBA’s premier championship with the largest field of the year, the 66th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open is defined by the most challenging lane condition of the season. It is a flat oil pattern that demands the most precision and concentration of any event.

The entry fee for non-members has recently been reduced to $500 in the U.S. Open, but will remain at $600 for the Denny’s Dick Weber Open and Etonic Marathon Open. The entry fee for all three events for PBA members is $500.
