Default Pre-bowling on dry alleys can be a pain.......

I have to get arthroscopic knee surgery on my right knee-sliding leg-this Friday. So my wife and I pre-bowled for our league night this Saturday. The bad part is the house we bowl in doesn't like to waste oil in the afternoon because there isn't any league bowling until tonight. So we bowled on dry as dust alleys. My first game was a 161. I had to find my line and was left with 7 pin spares that I was not warmed up to get. I did my best to not get discouraged. I ended up having to kind of coast to coast bowl for a good line. Being left handed I was standing with my sliding foot arch on board 28. That is deep for me. I was bellying the ball out to about board five of the left gutter. I finally got settled in with that setup and bowled a 190 the second game. My third game was a 183. I think my average is 167 now. Good thing I was using a urethane Blue Hammer. The Blue was hooking like a resin ball. Fortunately I was picking up my spares decently
in the second and third game. I like bowling on fresh league night oil instead of this dust bowl condition. I was able to find an adjustment for the conditions we had and kept the series from becoming a total loss.

thats how cosmic bowling is at my alley. Im literally halfway in the lane next to next lofting it across the gutter. If i get tired of doing that i usually just switch to my urethane or just get one of the house balls

I do not have a plastic ball. When we bowl on league night the oil layout is good enough to use my Blue urethane for a strike ball or a spare ball. The oil is put down right before our league night starts. So we always start with fresh oil.

fair enough, when the lanes are this dry maybe try throwing the ball without axis rotation and rely on lift only for hook, this should allow you to play fairly straight

Doc says that I might be good to go in three weeks. According to the MRI the meniscus tear isn't that bad. I didn't get any swelling or fluid on the knee like my brother did when he injured his. We bowl every other Saturday on our league.

Good luck with your knee surgery Hammer hopefully your knee will
be a lot better afterwords and you can make a quick recovery and
    get back to bowling quicker.

I know your pain the first MRI I had done showed that I have a torn
meniscus in my left knee and the Dr. said the second MRI I had done
showed the meniscus in my right knee was more or less just completely
shredded and not a lot can be done for it.

Some of the bowlers at the center that know about my knees and my back
pains say they wonder how I even stand it to bowl and yet still bowl as good
as I do. I always just smile and tell them if you love doing something enough
you'll find a way to get through the pain.
