Default Let's Have Some Fun With Bowling Culture

Hey, It can't hurt too much to laugh at yourself. Here is an example of misunderstanding the language of our sport. I found this in an internet search for on the weight hole. The fiirst answer reminds me of the old "Little Rascals" episode where Jack tries to explain what a shipping clerk does. "He ships the clerk to the ship....no, He ships the ship to the clerk". Good thing they did not ask a bunch of physicists, they would describe a black hole instead.

"Bowling ball, what is a weight hole?
I assume it is to make the ball hook. Is weight added to the hole or is the missing weight do the job.

In case a drilling layout gives the ball excessive side weight (usually aggressive layouts), which would be illegal, a weight hole would be drilled to compensate.

Asker's Comment: I talked to some bowlers today, same answer. I guess it indicates the ball is aggressively weighted. Don't think I need that, I usually use a house ball.

Not the right answer? Try Yahoo! Search

I have a question. How do you add weight to a hole? The best part is the last part: "Not the right answer?" - "I don't know, that's why I am asking you, Yahoo"
I guess you really are a "Yahoo."

You almost made me spill my tea on that one.

Actually, it depends on the weight of the hole? no wait (pun intended)

There's alway the comedian Paula Poundstone who very comically expressed her disdain for the classic bowling image of an old dude with perfect hair sitting, watching, bowling, sitting, watching, scratching, bowl, sit , look.

She is known to say "I hate Earl-freckin'-Anthony"
