You check and ask at the local bowling lanes for flyers etc., you go online and search for tournaments in your area. Check the regional and tournament sub-forums of the bowling forums.

Call other lanes besides where you bowl. My local center doesn't have many but the centers south of me do so I got there for tournaments.

From what I understand that area should have a lot of tournaments, or at least be close enough to find some good ones. I agree with the statements above. Talk to multiple centers in the area and see if they have or know of some in the area. Not only talk to those at the front counter and look through their flyers, but talk to the guys in the pro shop. Talk to other bowlers as well, a lot of the time bowling doesn't have good marketing and relies mainly on word of mouth to get the message out there.

Our local news paper has a small bowling section in the thursday edition. Any tournaments that are coming up are always listed there.

I actually saw a flyer today in my home center for a tournament at a competing center. I was kind of surprised and delighted at the same time. If more centers would cooperate like this it would benefit them all in the long run.

State championships start and run through most of the summer.
