Just got my new ball!

Well guys, it is done! I have my new bowling ball! My first ball in over 10 years!

13 Lb Hammer Nail, Smoke and Fire!

I will post my reviews tomorrow along with videos of the inaugural games!

When I asked about maintainance with this ball, the pro shop owner said to NOT drop it in the ball shine machine at the ally and to just wipe the oil off the ball after every shot and before I put it away. He also told me to get the ball de-oiled every year or two.

Any other suggestions? This is a huge investment for me! Next ball is a plastic

The de-oiled advic is good, but it dpends on how many games you put on it, and how fast.

One thing I never realized, when I got my first ball, is how the heat/cold can effect it. I live in TX, and used to keep my balls in the garage. In the summer, all the oil would sweat out which I thought was great, but I guess a 110 degree garage for an extended period of time is a horrible idea. In the winter, the colder temperatures eventually caused it to crack. My first ball only lasted 2 years and I was told it was because of the harsh conditions.

Now I keep my balls in a closet inside the house. Im about to replace a ball Ive had for about 7 years. I used it so much it has very little life left in it and can hardly hanle even light oil any more. That ball is a Hammer No Mercy. You will like your Hammer.

We did not get a chance to get up early enough for rent a lane this morning so I am going to try a NEW house later on today for 2 hours of bowling for $12 (shoes included )

Hmmm... Small world, huh? I have a similar story, but my family lived in CT instead of RI. Hahahahaha. Sorry about your grandfather. I hope its not serious and he recovers quickly.

Reading what you said gave me one last piece of advice: buy your own shoes right now. Hahaha

If you think about it, shoes were always the smarter investment because house ballsnare free but shoes arent! Its been so long since Ive rented shoes that I have no idea what they cost anymore but they were around $3-5 years ago. So if you buy a $30 pair like I did, they pay for themselves after 10 outings, and after that youre cutting into other bowling costs with the money you save!

And once you realize how smart you are for doing that, the next step is VERY logical: USE THE MONEY YOU SAVED TO BUY MORE BOWLING STUFF!!! Isnt it awesome how that works?

Oh ya. Shoes are next! I was pretty much Platoed using a borrowed ball so the ball needed to come first

About my grandfather, thank you for your blessings but it is only a matter of time. He has lived a full life! :-)

Good luck with the ball and my blessings to you and your family in this time of anguish. Hopefully you all can find some comfort in knowing you at least had a chance to say goodbye before he leaves.


BTW, I was born at Yale-New Haven Medical Center in Connecticut and was raised in Brockton, Massachusetts. Whatever happened to kids staying near home?
