Chalk it up to ignorance. And get used to people doing stuff like that. In any kind of competitive league, there are going to be people who do that. You just have to have a thick shell and laugh at them.

UBowling.com is a new bowling website created as a resource of bowling news, reviews and information to help grow and improve the bowling community.
When ever there is money involved, the game changes big time.
It's only a game people. If you are looking for make money in bowling then learn some sportsmanship first and enter some scratch games.
The weekly leagues that include handicaps I would assume is for FUN first and MONEY is just a BONUS.

It wasn't bagging, but I would not do that again. Practice different stuff outside of league play, not during the match. Since you have locked up the first half, everyone will be watching to see how much your average changes the 2nd half of the season. In my league, people have been kicked out for doing this, it's flat out stupid and embarrassing. Since you are in your first year in that league, the other bowlers that are trying to win will be watching. This is coming out harsh, but there is money involved and you don't know how people will react when you switch up so drastically, especially after they have seen you bowl for the past 16 week and now you bowl different after the half was wrapped up.
Congrats on winning the half and keep up the good work.
Try and make your changes as much as possible during the first 10 minutes of open bowling.
During the match make SUBTLE changes in your approach.
Again as I have said before. Adults can complain and moan about the silliest things. Sometimes it feels like I am in daycare again. :P

My scratch league Tuesday I was playing straight up 5 and the only one hitting the pocket. After the first game the other 9 bowlers moved to where I was so I made a subtle adjustment...moved left to 35 and cranked the crap out of it.
Are those the minor, subtle adjustments you're talking about?

Now that's funny. Most people wouldn't consider a 30 board move and change in styles subtle. The only reason I can do it and not get accused of sandbagging is all the bowlers around here know I've been doing it this way for years. They learned how competitive I am after getting hurt and having to bowl blind. I went from a pure stroker to cranker and my average only dropped to 195 during that time (11/2010-1/9/12).
