Thread: It's time for a new ball!

Default It's time for a new ball!

Ok. It's time for a new ball for me. On medium to dry lanes, I'm ok right now with the Nexus Pearl and Wild Card (I know it's old :P). When I play on heavy oil lanes, I often have difficulties to get the ball hook. I am a low rev player (about 200-250 rpm). So, what I am looking for is a heavy oil ball with a sanded coverstock. I love Brunswick products but I am open minded.

    What would be your suggestions?

Up to now, Aura Paranormal and DV8 Brutal Nightmware are my first choices. What would be yours?

My Hammer Nail is made for those conditions but it also works very well on the oiler lanes as well.

Sorry but the Hammer website says that it is intended for medium to dry lanes.

I know what the website says but it works well in the oiler conditions for me.

I throw at 9.5mph and around 12 to 14 revs. My ball is also a 13lb.

I would consult with your pro shop and see what they have to say. Feel free to click on my link in my sig to see the reaction that I get with it.

I don't have anything else to suggest. I am not a pro or a coach.

See what BILL has to say. I am sure he will chime in here soon enough though.

Probably not. The Hammer Nail really isn't going to be any good for heavy oil lanes. You are throwing the ball pretty slowly so that may be why you are getting success with it, but throwing a 15mph ball, assuming the OP is around average, would only be able to throw a straight ball with that.

On Storm's website, they have a matchmaker page where you can input your info and it'll suggest a ball for you. The Virtual Gravity Nano Pearl probably wouldn't be a bad choice if you went Storm (But that's just by assuming a few things like speed, track, axis of rotation).

Aura Paranormal and DV8 Brutal Nightmare are good choices. So it the Motiv Raptor Talon.
For a now bargain heavy oil ball, the DV8 Hell Raiser Revenge is a monster in the oil.

For now I will stick with what my pro-shop recommends. So far he was spot on! Now if I can only keep consistent with my throws I should be OK!
