Bill hit my comment on the nose. If you want to raise your average, concentrate on your spares. Spares are the name of the game and when you increase your accuracy on your spares, that accuracy will carry over to your first ball shots and after a while you'll start throwing more strikes. In 8 games your spare shooting target should be over 90% as Bill says. That means at least two or three games with NO misses. I always teach to take more time on your second shot. When you're waiting for your ball to come back, every second should be used to decide where you're going to stand, what target you're going to shoot, and what release ( if you change for corner spares) you'll use. If you miss more than one spare in 3 games, then you need to focus more on spares. Once you achieve the 90%+, then watch what happens to your average !
