It's merely a tangent, it will be back on topic soon enough.....

UPDATE: I just got back from bowling a few games with my new High 5 Gear Power Sleeve, and I was genuinely surprised and impressed at how well it worked.

I was very nervous about using it for the first time, so I bowled my first two games with my old tennis elbow brace on my forearm. I then took that off and switched to the power sleeve. After putting it on, I was literally saying to myself "there's no way this thing is gonna replace my forearm brace", so I threw my first shot very tentatively. I felt no pain or stress in my elbow. I threw the next shot with a little more on it, still no pain. So then I just started throwing it how I normally would, and I felt absolutely nothing in my elbow. I was amazed at how well it seems to work.

Even with my forearm brace there would still be some slight discomfort, but nothing terrible. With the power sleeve, I literally felt no pain or discomfort at all. ZERO. I only got to bowl 2 games with it, so I can't wait to get back out there and use it the entire practice session and see how it holds up over more games, but my initial impression is that this thing is some kind of miracle product.

And I must admit, it looks pretty cool, too.

It's definitely not just a fashion statement, or a gimmick, or a placebo, or an arm-warmer, or a fancy sweatband. It works as advertised for me.

Good to hear it, man. I'm still an au natural bowler. I used a thing on my hand/wrist to keep it straight when I first started throwing a fingertip. But that was only for half a season. It got stinky awfully quick, anyway and it wasn't all that easy to clean. I'm curious how this High 5 Gear Power Sleeve works.. does it help align the tendons or ligaments in your elbow or something to stabilize them?

I have no idea how it works, to be honest. I've never understood how having something strapped around my forearm reduces the pain in my elbow, but it does. All I know is that is keeps your muscle tendons tightly compressed, and somehow that helps prevent them from getting strained.

Compression sleeves all work the same way on the same principle - to keep your muscles warm and in place. When you do athletic movements, your muscles flop around. This can cause inconsistency in how they expand and contract, and it can cause soreness and pain. The tendons are also kind of flexed and moved in this process. Constricting them evenly keeps everything from being inflamed.

So, if you have pain from bowling there is absolutely some benefit with compression. And, as I indicated last page having your arm warm and "even" is also a benefit over a long bowling session.

I've used compression sleeves for working out and other physical activities like football and basketball for a long time and know their benefits well, I didn't expect so much of a positive influence on bowling because I didn't think I used my arm that much but I think I was underestimating the amount of muscle at play.

    Worth a try, for sure.

BTW, there is absolutely ZERO need for a specific "bowling" sleeve. Any compression sleeve will work. I got mine from a sporting good's store, but you can buy them on ebay for $7 shipped. Compression is compression....unless you feel having Balmo's name on your arm helps something.

Great reply Swingset. Thanks for explaining. I fully understand now why basketball players use them. I may consider using one. I'll shop around at Dick's, Modells, etc. I don't feel uncomfortable at all when throwing 3 or 6 games in a day. But come states, I may be bowling 9 games or more in a day and that's where a compression sleeve can come in handy.
