Default Thoughts about the International Art of Bowling Frame by Frame Video Analysis

What are your thoughts about the Frame by Frame Video Analysis at the iabowing.com?

    http://www.iabowling.com/landing/fra...ideo-analysis/

Is it worth the $100 or should I find a local coach for $40?

Don't take this the wrong way as I mean no disrespect to anybody...until you're averaging 180 your money would be better spent on a local coach. Once you're there though, then I think the better coaches are well worth the money. At this point you have things you already know you need work on so why spend $100 to hear it again?

BTW, most if not all, of the better coaches do frame by frame analysis. What separates them is interpreting what they see and explaining it in a way that you can incorporate it into your game. IAB is a worldclass organization.

I don't know much about the video coach/ It looks very inviting, but I noticed that he is a gold level coach, which means he has a higher certification. That said, the quality of a good instructor lies not in his level of technical knowledge, rather his ability to convey it. I have gotten good basic instructiion from a gold level coach but the most brilliant and insightful instruction came from a coach at a 10-dollar-a-head group sesson. My point is "the bells and whistles" do not guarantee a quality effect.
I live by three simples rules:

    1. Don't ever ask about my business
    2. Never discuss business at the table
    3. Don't ever side with anyone against the family

$100.00 is a lot to spend for an average bowler. Most of the good coaches around the country are Bronze or at best silver level. One reason is that the Silver and gold level are SUPER expensive! I would have gone for the Silver level a long time ago if it weren't for the cost. I'm with Bill.
You can get a few coaching sessions with a good local coach, have hands on instruction, and get more bang for your buck. Now once you start averaging 200+ and if you find the need, then spend the extra $$$ to tweak your game. Most of the good coaches in my area are about $25 - $30 for an hour. A bit more if they video tape you. Try that first, and use the extra $$ to by new equipment.

Thanks a lot for the insights. I still have a lot to work on. I Keep telling my wife I need a coach and she says I am not ready yet. And you know? She is right! I drop into a slump and make the same mistakes.

I am doing better after I got the new ball though.

Maybe once I reach a steady 200 league average I will get a coach

The sooner you learn through a coach, the better. A coach will help you correct your mistakes. It's better to correct them early, before they become a habit. The coach will also help you mentally and physically.

I just bought the kindle book "The Game Changer: A simple system for improving your bowling scores". it is now on loan to my Wife's Kindle :-D

I guess spending $40 on a single coach session now to get the basics down pat is a good idea?

A coach (We will assume a "good" coach for this scenario) can greatly reduce the time for the learning curve, teach you drills to improve consistency and give at the second correction/critique. It can be done without a coach but does take longer. And longer than that if you're trying to coach yourself.

I will hire one next week. Is there a website to find a good coach?
