Default First time fingertip drilling questions

What do i want to ask for as far as drilling goes? Im getting a new ball. The DV8 Misfit and I am going to get it drilled for fingertip and ive never tried that before so I can learn how to throw a hook which will be new for me as well.

just say to your pro shop that you throw conventional and that you want to go to finger tip to see how it is.

but you can throw a hook conventional griped to take a look at 2012 player of the year "Rash" he throws conventional griped and he can hook the ball easy.

For a first fingertip grip ball you don't really have to ask many questions? The most important thing is the fit. Just explain that you're looking to learn how to hook, and the pro should be able to give you a generic lay out that will work.

Yep, just tell him that you want to get it drilled fingertip and this is your first time with it. Nothing more. The pro will take care of the rest.

Like the others said, given this will be your first finger tip ball, layout will not be all that much of a concern, explain that this will be your first fingertip ball and ask as many questions as you can think of in order to soak up information while he/she is drilling the ball.

i disagree with most of the most here not because there wrong but because no one asked him what type of hook he wants to throw does he wanna throw coast to coast or straight up does he want a midlane read ? i understand its his first ball but drilling a ball one way kinda takes away his pick of style look this is what id say to him if its your first ball first decide what type of ball u wanna throw then tell him i wanna throw it like this explain it the best u can more detail the better your experience will be and the pro shop can do a better job thats what i was asked when i was little and went to hook so i feel everyone should get to pick =D congrats on the new ball btw and good luck on lanes

The baseline layout I use for someone changing from conventional to fingertip is 60 x 4 x 30 with a pap of 1 down and 4 left (or 4 right if you're a lefty).

Rash isn't a conventional grip. It's a relaxed relaxed span with larger finger inserts. He is never second knuckle deep... and I don't recommend that layout for any reason.

1st time fingertip, so it's probably going to be hard for the Pro shop guy to determine his PAP for a proper drilling. It will probably be a common strong generic layout.

If this is your first time drilling fingertip bowling ball I doubt that you want an aggressive layout for going coast to coast like someone said here. If this is your first time I would have him drill a standard layout with the pin up above your ring finger. This drilling will give you length with a controllable hook at the backend. This layout doesn't mean that your ball will be a pushover. Are you going to be bowling on a THS pattern or a sport pattern?
