Default Marauder Madness sanded from oob to 1000

So for the winter months I put my snow tires on my Marauder Madness! Took it from oob 4000 to 1000. Talk about gripping the lane. It was almost too much but I like the ability to throw it a bit harder without being worried about losing the hook back to the pocket.

The extra speed and the move to the pocket was amazing. Alot of my strikes were those nice clear the deck strikes. Although I did see a few more splits than I was hoping for. Now to just get better on spares and the whole game will come together.

With this change I think I will be needing a new low oil ball...... One little change and now I want a new ball! Got to love how that works.

haha i accidentally polished my 1500 grit polished crossroad with clean n smooth(which said 1500 grit polished) and it left it dull which in turn cut the length down tremendously. I couldnt even use it so i took it to the proshop to get it done right. Glad i did!

Btw maybe you should get a misfit pearl?

Not sure I want the "highlighter ball". I like my DV8 ball, but the jury is still out for me, I am going to wait and see how the wife likes her Diva before I commit to another DV8, plus I got to wait a bit for my pocketbook to catch up. I am thinking my league winnings will be put into a new ball, a pair of new shoes for sure!

I was impressed with my proshop guy. He is as honest as it gets. He said the best thing to do is to find a finish that works best for you that isn't OOB. OOB finishes are done with machines that the proshops can't duplicate.

Just a small plug but Prime Time pro shop in Brad Angelo Lanes is a great pro shop!

Ive been reading a lot about people changing the oob finish so its easier to replicate again. My Too Reckless is sanded to 2000 grit which could be easily done again.

Exactly his point! OOB is unachievable to replicate. What a difference though that sanding makes, such a shiny ball before and now it is pretty dull.

Yep. I'm one of those. I have my own ball spinner and various pads. As soon as I get home with the ball, I resurface it. I still follow the manufacturers process (ex. 500, 1000, 4000), but my own way.
