Default 10# balls with real core not pancake

I'm looking to buy a 10# ball for a young kid, what options do I have for balls with real cores(same as heavier weights) , so far I only know of ebonite cyclone

What is the kid's average? at that weight the core isn't really the biggest concern, at 12-13lb most company's use a generic weight block that is close in characteristics to the original, but below that even with the same core shape the RG and differential are so different that the reaction will be completely different.

If the kid is using a 10lb house ball move him/her up to at least 12lb, a properly fitted ball won't feel as heavy as a house ball. I'm sure it will feel heavy at first, but using it every week they will get used to it.

Way back when I went from a 10lb house ball to a 14lb fitted ball, yes it felt heavy, but I'm glad i did it.

Taboo spare ball I believe has a gas mask weight block! I have seen some league mates using it and it does hook. I think the Slingshot has a regular core. I agree with 75lockwood in going up to 12#. He should get used to the weight in a week or 2.

This was a question I was going to ask as well. My son uses a 9lbs ball that I bought him back when his league started. Sometimes he'll use a 10lbs house ball. So I'm also wondering what size reactive ball I should get him and also if I should move him to a fingertip grip or keep it conventional?

I think my local shop is reluctant to drill a fingertip ball for a kid under 10 years old unless they have relatively large and strong hands.

one of the proshops here won't do it until their fingers are big enough for the grips.

another one will just put in the smallest finger grips for them. just depends.
