Hello ,
I was wondering if it rly changes alot iff u change like 1000 with polish to like 1500 with polish?

It will make a minor difference in how far the ball
pushes down lane before it starts to react it won't
bite the lane as early with 1500 under the polish as
it would with 1000 under there.

The problem atm is i have a defiant edge and out the box it was a 1500polished, and i liked the look on the lane but i wanted a bit more so i sanded the polish of and sanded it with a 1000.
But now i feel like it lost a lot of hit power seems like the energy is gone by the time it hits te pins so im thinking about getting it polished again but then maybe with a 500 polished insted of a 1500 as it was out of the box.

I have a defiant edge also and I have mine at 500 finish with a rough buff
polish on it and it still hits the pins like a Mack truck and it doesn't try to
read the lanes too early.
I shot 227 258 255 for a 740 series with it last night during league playing
up the 8th board and it had a good look on the lanes and set up right in the
pocket. Last night I strung the last 8 strikes in the second game and started
off with the first 7 in the third game for 15 strikes in a row so a 500 finish
and some polish worked good for me but you may see different results with
your ball.
I also have a P4 hole drilled in the center of the MB down on the right side of
the ball next to my thumb so that might be a factor also in my good reaction
on the lanes with it but at 500 and polish you may see a different reaction with
your ball.

Lower grit will allow the ball to read the lanes earlier, which means it will start gripping the lanes early, causing the ball to hook less. Higher grit, especially adding polish, will allow the ball to skid through the oil and retain it's energy, so when it hits the dry areas, it will grab and turn.

Some of these answers are a bit weird. Let me shoot it to you straight. The 1500 polished cover is actually a polish with 1500 grit that they top coat it with. It is NOT 1500 grit abralon with Storm Xtra shine. There is a big difference between the two. If you would like the ball to read a bit earlier, but not burn up as quickly as 1000 grit would, you have two easy options. Base coat it with 500 grit on four sides using a ball spinner, and then go straight to the Storm Step 2 (1500 grit with polish) on two sides. That will give it a bit more grit, and create a slightly earlier response than the out of box. Or, my favorite thing to do, Sand it to 500 grit on four sides for 20 seconds per side with decent pressure, then top coat it lightly with 4000 grit on all 4 sides for 30 seconds each side. This will read the midlane better than the polish, have a smoother breakpoint reaction, but still retain power through the pins. Good luck!
