and every once in a while you wake up in the gutter. heyooooooh
You spend $10 to get a few rocks (games), then in a half hour you are done and are fiending for more.
Its takes a fortune to get good at it.

$10 bucks? Shoot our bowling alleys are expensive... its like 6.00 a game. except on some nights they have the $1 cosmic bowling...
Get a part time job at the alley or become a volunteer coach in the youth league. Most centers give a discount for those things.
I get free open bowling for coaching the youtth program. It's a nice perk but one I wasn't expecting. A few weeks ago the owner said how happy he was with how I am with the kids and asked if I would help him set-up and run a "learn to bowl" program. As soon as I said yes he said he would pay for me to attend the Silver coaching certification seminar. I love that place!
Our open bowl price for non-league members is $4/game, league members $2.50/game

Slightly off topic i know, but here in australia, most open play is $10 - $12 private centres and higher from AMF centres. League practice rates vary from $3 in some private centres to $5.50 for AMF centres.
At our house if you are on a league there practice games only cost $2.00 a game.
We have tons of opps for $1.00 games or all you can bowl for $5-10. I LOVE bowling 10-15 games like that.
9am-3pm mon-fri its $1.50 games. I wonder if ill get half price for being in a league haha
