Default Advice Needed: Index Finger Pain @ Joint (and up through 1st knuckle)

    Greetings all,

I am needing some advice & suggestions due to some index finger pain I am experiencing. During bowling I am getting pain / numbness / tingling in my index finger that starts a few inches below the finger/hand joint and radiates up through the 1st and 2nd finger up to about the 1st knuckle. It starts pretty much within the first few balls that I throw and lasts the whole night. I do use a fingertip layout. I've tried many different index finger positions (keeping it close to the middle finger, stretching it out, ect) and nothing seems to be working.

It seems as though the ball wants to lay against my first knuckle during delivery, which is putting pressure on the joint and thus the pain. Is there a way to drill the ball so that it sits more into the palm of the hand, and has less pressure on the index finger?

I've been to a couple different ball drillers and they have tried shortening my span, lengthening my span, messing with the pitches, ect. with no luck.

Thanks for the help in advance!

What you want to do is called a "Center Line Transfer" (CLT) it will help lay the ball flatter in the hand (i did it and it did).

If that doesn't work, maybe because you have tendon damage try the "steel fingers". Worked for me and I've recommended them highly for the past couple of years. Best $20.00 bucks I ever spent. You can find them on line, just google them.
