PBA TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY GALA JAN. 24, 2009 IN LAS VEGAS

Tickets are on sale for tables and seats for what is being billed as the “Bowling Event of the Century.” The PBA’s 50th Anniversary Gala event, presented by the Bowling Foundation, will take place Jan. 24, 2009, from 7-11 p.m. at the Red Rock Resort, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas. Tickets are $2,500 per table (seats 10) or $250 per seat.

“Our 50th anniversary is a historical occasion and our anniversary gala will be an event worthy of such a milestone,” said PBA Commissioner and CEO Fred Schreyer. “We know our legion of supporters and fans will want to be on hand to witness and participate in this memorable evening.”

The PBA will honor the 50greatest players in PBA history as part of the evening. Players 9-14 were announced at last weekend’s Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour stop in Cheektowaga, N.Y. They are: 9. Marshall Holman; 10. Parker Bohn III; 11. Don Carter; 12. Billy Hardwick; 13. Brian Voss; and 14. Dick Ritger. Other leading bowlers will be announced Dec. 14 (Nos. 8-4); Jan. 11 (No. 3); and Jan. 25 (No. 2 and No. 1).

Guests will also witness the 29th PBA Hall of Fame ceremony where three players will be inducted for the first time since 2000. The inductees include: Norm Duke, Del Ballard Jr. and John Handegard.

The live ESPN telecast of the H&R Block Tournament of Champions will take place at the Red Rock Casino on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 9:30 a.m. PT.
