So I was on the right track. After re-reading the posts it seemed to me that the people here who are serious about improving, were taking the remark personally and not as really intended. It just didn't make sense to me that you average over 200 but wouldn't be trying your personal best. You obvious try your best BUT don't let it consume you, especially the bad shots/nights. That, in my opinion, is how we should be.

Derrick and I have been teammates since we started bowling 7 years ago. Tonight during league we were talking about how as we've improved our bowling, our attitudes have also improved. We've learned how to blow off the bad shots, only be serious those few seconds from the set to the release and enjoy the whole sport more than ever.

I remember in my younger years I used to be those guys. I look back at it now and laugh.

NONE of that. anybody that takes league that serious, to me, is just trying to be in a dick measuring contest. I mean, unless you think bragging rights are prestigious?
In my league, the prize fund is just under $60,000.00. Yeah that's three zero's. If you want to bowl to make money this is the type of league you bowl in. If you want to bowl for "funnzies" then go bowl in a mixed league. If you're not a serious bowler, that's fine, but most teams in my league would pass on you.
