Yeah you might not have won it all but you gained some
wonderful knowledge about shooting on a hard pattern so
next time you will probably more than likely do better on it.
So last weekend I went to the Pop Tomek Memorial youth tournament. Like always they put down the PBA Cheetah pattern, and I was stoked to finally get to try it.
Let me say, this pattern was tough for me, really tough.
First two games I ended up throwing 134, and 120. -110 is where I sat. I was absolutely devastated with myself, but I didn't give up. I knew that I had 4 more games to pick myself up.
I did just that shooting 219, 199, 209 in my next three to bring me up to -32. Then disaster struck. 4 splits and a 142. I went back down to -72.
Thankfully the cut to make the top 16 was -94!
The format for round 2 was 1st seed vs 16th seed, 2nd vs 15th, and so on. The games were best two out of three.
To my disdain I was giving up 30+ pins of handicap to my opponent, who surprisingly was a two handed lefty. I won my first game handily, shooting 189. I dropped the next game by shooting 153. I stepped up to the pressure in the do or die game three and shot 216.
I made it to the top 8, but sadly I lost my next two games shooting 143, and 185. I finished 7th and won $50 scholarship.
While I did not win, I came back from being -110 after two games to reach the quarter finals.

That's why you never give up. You never know, your opponent could go big 4 in the ninth and 7-10 in the tenth while you strike out to take the lead.
Good job! Especialy so considering it was your first time in this pattern.
