Default So close but no cigar

So here's what happened to me last night in league. I have a average of 153 in this league and it was the last night of league. my first game i bowl a 226. my first full clean game! second game was a 169 and the third game was a 202. This was my best series ever! but here is why I am upset with myself. In the first game i was 2 pins away from getting the 75 pins over your average lapel pin from usbc. my series was a 597 so I was 3 pins away from my first 600 series. and then come to find out they have a pin for 140 pins over average series and i was 2 pins away from getting that lapel pin. I was very excited with how i bowled but then crushed by how close I came to getting the achievements.

that is both awesome (the bowling) and it also sucks that you missed by so little.

Hopefully, it shows you that you're right there! That you're improving and that soon, these goals will be surpassed. It hurts to just miss, but it should tell you that you're almost there!

    nice bowling!

Worst part, the USBC won't be handing out those awards next year. It will be up the each local association. Pros and cons to this plan.

Still had to make you feel good about how you bowled! I missed my first ever 700 series (months ago) by 5 pins. In that same series I threw a gutter ball after 5 strikes in a row. To make it worse, I have no idea what happened with that ball! It was completely, and totally my fault that I threw it. The ball didn't stick to me, I didn't lose one of my fingertips, it was just a horrible release. To make it worse, I picked up the spare after the gutter ball.

By the end of the night, I knew I lost the 700 series, and that ball was most likely the difference. As bad as that sucks, it DOES give me something to work towards. I have had numerous 600 series since then, but the closest I've come to a 700 series since then is the 644 I had last week. It's maddening, but yet... It's exciting I still have something to work towards, because once I get that 700 series, thinking about an 800 series just makes me want to cry! hahahahahaha.
Not helping the situation since 1983.

As great as it is to shoot so well, it's also great to have won an award. I agree with the comment that you now have achieved that level of bowling and you can now feel comfortable in knowing that YOU CAN get there. If you're bowling in a summer league, I believe the awards will still be there. I think the change doesn't start until the fall league. So I would say "Go For It".
Good luck, just go in with the confidence that you can do this.
