    Default Gunz's Summer League

Just started my first league at an alley I have only gone to once before.

    First Game: 158
    Second: 146
    Third: 143

At the house I Practice at, I am normally around 160 adv. So a little bit of a drop in score. Though I wanna say I was overthinking and trying not to make a mistake and come off like a noob!!

if your norm is aprx 160 your prob dissappointed, however keep in mind if your setting an average for the league you may be
exactly where you want to be giving you some room to roam and adjust to take your time and get use to everything. i say don't worry! It will all work itself out as needed go with the flow and just enjoy your league. your teammates will be very supported no matter what.

I'm not that disappointed. I had already figured I would go down slightly between new house/nerves and such. I am averaging with my other teammates too, so It's not that bad. Had fun, though the 45 min drive stinks. haha

So last night was kind of a wash out. I went 157-149-153. I had a lot of trouble with 5 and 10 pins last night. The lanes where far drier than I am use to, even starting off the night during the warm up. From there it just got worse. So as some of you who may read this know, I only have a DV8 BN, (though looking to convince my wife to let me get a Diva and Mistfit , Maybe this will help) I can't really say what was going wrong, Some bad throws, Some just bad luck? But on those ones that I really thought hit the pocket decent I would leave a 5 or 10 pin.

Now given my "Good hit" to the pocket, probly varies from you 240+ guys, but what is the biggest culprit for leaving the 5 pin? Just bad deflection due to entry angle? I was having to move further and further left to not brooklyn, (though I did get a few of those) By the last few frames I ended up going all the way back right and just up the side to try and get a better angle, Worked decent but I definitly need to practice that more.

All in all any night you can come away learning something new and having a good time (both teams took 2 points, we won first and 2nd game, they crushed us on 3rd and won series by 14 pins >.< ) seems like a well spent night to me.

This kind of sounds like how my father in law bowls, although since getting a meanstreak brawler, he hasn't left too many 5 pins. He used to leave a TON of 5-7s and 5-10s though, along with 8-10s. The reasoning is a little bit of entry angle along with the ball skidding/losing energy when it hits the pocket.

He would hit the pocket pretty often, but it would be light, and straighter more so than hooking. When the ball goes straight-light like that, it is only knocking the side of the head pin, and not really touching the 5. On a normal flush strike, the ball will take out the 1-3-5-9.

For drier lanes, you want to stand more right, throwing it straighter and a little harder because the ball is going to react to the lane faster (the ball will begin to hook way earlier than it normally would).

Had a good week. My team was in 7th place out of 8 last week. This week we started at 5th place and last night we beat the 2nd place team 2 of 3 games and took series for 6 out of 8 points. I beat my avg all three games 184-182 and 173. I started with a 165 avg so all in all not a bad night.

Rough start to the night, but we pulled it through

148-162-181. We won the first, last and series. Felt like I was having a horrible night until the 10th frame of the 3rd game, managed to close it out and made it impossible for the other team to win. Just glad I didn't choke!
