    Default When the Unbelievable Happens

Bowled like complete crap this morning during my lesson. Couldn't hit my mark to save my life. Tired. Still pissed from work last night. Crap ton of little kids about five years old running around distracting me (Some would run in front of me while I was lining up).

Then I had league tonight. Knocked backed a beer, started bowling. Not one strike during the 10 minute practice. First frame, strike. Second frame, guttered, then picked up the spare. Third through sixth frames...strikes. Finished that game with a 233. Hell yea. Second game, 220. Hell yea, 453 going into the third, just need a 147 to get the 600. Laughable at that point. No way in hell am I not getting the 600. Well, we dried the hell out of the 15-8 boards in the first two games and I was screwed. My Sync was too strong so I switched to the Frantic. Ball was just burning up before it hit the pocket and was hitting weak. Three strikes the whole third game, none chained together. Three splits and a chopped spare. Tenth frame, had a 137 (Chopped spare in the 9th). Just needed 10 pins to get the 600. Nothing was going to stop me at this point. Just a measly ten pins in the tenth. Threw what looked to be a great shot into the pocket...7-10 split. Went for it, missed the 10 pin wide by less than an inch. 598.

Unbelievable. How the hell I bowl so amazing for two games then complete crap is beyond me. What I would have liked to have done was to move inside, play the extra oil, let it catch the dry and rip back in. But my Sync was still too strong when I tried. My Frantic was too weak. Need that medium-heavy ball in between those two. God I can't wait for my IQ Tour Pearl this Saturday. Would have been PERFECT for the conditions in the third game.

Remember this when someone says "the game is too easy nowadays".

I've been there. Man, have I been there.

Be thankful for the two good games you threw and just think, the last one justifies getting the new ball.

I am thankful for the first two games, but it frustrates me because I know that I was at my true talent level and lack of proper equipment killed my third game. I was nailing my marks. I was throwing the ball the exact same way every time. My armswing was loose, my hand position was great. To top it all off, my mental game was there. I know I'm good enough that I should be shooting 200+ every game. I'm not being cocky about it, but it's true. My teammates have said it. Quite a few people in my league who actually watch other bowlers have said it. My coach knows I can. I bowl a fair amount at four different alleys and I have people from all four alleys tell me that I have an amazing shot and it's been getting better and better every week.

When I started my first winter league back in September, I was clearly a 170-175 average bowler. The last 5-6 weeks, my coach and I have made huge advancements in my game and I've been consistently shooting 580-610 range every week. Part of it is not having the right equipment for every lane condition. The other part that's really holding me back is learning to read the lanes better. My timing is great, my hand position is getting better every week and in those first two games it showed. I had an extremely strong shot that was crushing it. This is something I can excel at, that comes naturally to me. I've been serious about becoming good at bowling for eight months total and already I'm above average. I may never become a pro, but damnit, I'm going to win tournaments once I finish my arsenal and become better reading the lanes.

Just think of it this way, now if the game
or the lanes didn't throw you a curve ball
(pun not intended) every once in a while
    it would be no fun.

Now if you knew that you were going
to get up there and strike on every ball
or almost every ball then it would take
all the fun and mystery out of the game
or should that have been all the fun and
misery out of the game. LOL!!!!

I get very passionate about this. I hate not living up to my potential and since I'm working as a waiter instead of being a forensic chemist, not in shape, etc. (God gave me a lot of talents that I've wasted), I just want one thing for me to stand out, be recognized, and to be proud of.

It's been a while since I've posted a video. Perhaps early next week when I can practice on fresh oil I'll do a video so you guys can see the drastic difference in the short time frame.

I know exactly how you feel I take my game very seriously and feel very
passionate about my bowling also and I hate it when I bowl bad and know
I could have bowled better than I did but medical problems plague me now
and make me have bad nights.

I am just like you in I hold my expectations of my bowling very high. I am very hard on myself when I bowl poorly and work on decompressing what went wrong and work on that one thing in practice the next weekend. I am at a point now that I just don't know what the heck I am doing wrong and am going to get some coaching in the next few weeks to help me explore what it is so I can correct it and improve my game to the next level.

You are in coaching and sounds like you are well on your way to the improvement you expect. Just keep plugging away and improve each aspect of your game. It will all come together and you will have an amazing game/series/season.
