    Default Greetings from Austin TX

    Hello there,

Been lurking around for about a month now, ever since I started getting seriously back into bowling again, and thought I would finally join the board and start posting some.

The name's Josh. I'm originally from Nicholasville KY. Moved to Austin 6 years ago to be with my now wife. Started bowling when I was 8 or 9, started youth bowling when I was about 10. Both parents and both older siblings were avid bowlers. My older brother has actually rolled 4 300s.

Haven't bowled in a league in about 7 years, in which I did win the high handicap game for the year. Looking to join a league in the fall here in Austin.

I guess the fondest memory I have of bowling was opening up with the front 9 one year during the team event in the youth city tournament when I was about 13 or 14, only to leave a ringing 10 to open the 10th . Missed it, and finished with a 267, which would be my highest score up until 3 weeks ago when I rolled a 269 during some open bowling.

Welcome to the forum Josh. Glad to see another bowler return to the sport.
You can obviously bowl. Have you thought about being a volunteer coach for your local youth league?

Thanks Bill and... Bill (300) lol. By reading through most of the threads over the last month, I feel like I've improved my game considerably. I'm self taught, and always knew the basics (move where the ball is moving, throw slower on oily lanes / quicker on drier lanes, don't squeeze the ball at the bottom of your swing otherwise you'll pull the ball, etc), but now I know more about increasing speed, flare, layouts and the like.

I haven't really thought much about coaching, but I think it would be fun. My daughters are 3 years and 5 months, so maybe when they get older, and they like bowling, I'd give it a more serious consideration.
