Hmmmm. Your thumb swells throwing a straight ball. Interesting.
What was happening as you attempted to throw a hook? Were you missing right or left?
Because it was event week for Relay For Life, I didn't get a chance to throw a few for almost a week. I'm have a few mixed feelings...
1st game - 130
Was feeling really good, ball was releasing exactly like I wanted it to.
2nd game - 94
Thumb started swelling so did the wrap towel around it between turns. Sorely convinced I need it drilled out a smidge and I'll use tape to adjust when I need to
3rd game - 72
Donna attempted to learn how to throw a hook. As expected, it didn't end well.

Pretty evenly matched between left pins standing vs. right pins standing. The 7-4-8 would be glued down for one frame and then the next would be the 6-9-10. When I'd end up with three pins standing I was only usually clearing the 8 or the 9 depending.
Occasionally the 1-2-3-5. Aim for the pocket, completely miss and usually come up with dropping the 2 or 3 and the 5. The 1 pin was mocking me.
No consistency at all so I recognize its very hard to give advice since I was all over the place!
