Default Coolest use of an old bowling ball (or how to upcycle)?

I'm a crafty sort. I'll admit it. I was looking around to try and find crochet patterns for ball cozies, bags, etc (and yes, I DID find a few) - when I came across this:

Some of the absolute coolest things I have ever seen done with a well loved ball.

So instead of parting with your old treasures, has anyone tried any of these?

I've made ashtrays out of cracked balls before and have been thinking of making a lamp out of the next old ball I have given to me. It would be good for the office.

I have thought about making a lamp out of one of my bowling balls when I am finally ready to retire it.
