    Default Hello from Northwest Arkansas!

Hey everybody! I am a new lover of bowling from Northwest Arkansas and I am here to get any advice I can! I am very new to bowling but I love it already. Getting my first real ball this weekend and hopefully really get to working on my hook. Really wanting to join a league and maybe some tournaments if time allows. If anyone on here is from this area, I would love to chat and learn as much as I can!

    Thanks everybody!

Welcome to the Boards, glad to have you aboard. You didn't mention which type of ball you're getting or how you'll have it drilled (conventional or finger tip). If you've "just" started start with the conventional, learn some of the basics, maybe get with a local coach. Also, I know many of the summer leagues have already started, but ask at the desk if they know of any that might be short a bowler and then show up on that night. Good luck and keep us up on how you're progressing. We're here to help.

You are correct in that! I didn't mention much huh, lol. I am getting a Columbia 300 Freeze Solid. Getting it drilled as a fingertip ball. I have some basics down but I don't have anything to practice with except a house ball. I'll probably start leagues in the Fall once I get some good practice with a good ball under my belt. Can't wait to get started!

Welcome to the forum. This is a great sport. I often say it's one of two things that can frustrate somebody so bad, yet they keep coming back. The other is a spouse.

Amen to that frustration...I experienced that this morning - yet, I'm trying to figure out when I can get out to practice next. Disagree with the spouse, been married twice and really never felt a "frustration" from either relationship. Guess all mine is from bowling! LOL

Granny....great place to take out the frustration rather than at home.!

Newbie....You're starting with a very good ball. Ask the pro shop guy to watch you thow a few balls and ask him for a few tips. Most will have no problem doing this and it's better to get started on the right path, than to struggle and not know what to do. This ball is going to do things for you that your house ball could never do. I'm also glad to see you going with a fingertip. It's much more comfortable, and if you really start to get into the game, you'll appreciate that. Good luck, let us know what happens.
