I have to admit, ever since I had my one lesson in January, my bowling has improved greatly.
I also spend more practice time working on my spares. I do get some looks from people, when
I throw at the 10 pin I knocked down with the first ball and have about a 20 in the 8th frame.
But I was a 185 bowler who's average dropped to 172. The coaching helped a lot. So far 4 weeks
in to summer league, I have a 204 average, had a 290 in the state tournament, and came in second
for individual points in winter league. A coaching session is a good thing!

People have a misconception about bowling. They often think the aim is to get the highest score by felling the most pins, which is generally true, but in order to do that, you must be consistent in the fundamental. That is what practice is for. I get looks and comments at times too, but I try to explain what I am doing. It often goes over people's heads until I explain how track and field runners practice. Short sprints to warm up. short distances focusing on knee lift, pause short easy run focusing on kick, etc. Then they get it.
