Thread: Urethane vs Pearl vs Hybrid

Ok update. No vids yet, couldnt find the video camera due to somebody misplacing it in this house...HOWEVER! i have been assured that next week it will happen!

Now onto the lanes update. A LOT more oil that usual, new oil machine I've been told and it's putting down A LOT more length of oil. At least it feels like that due to the way the balls I throw carry like a mofo! Now, for a heavy oil lane I have a good ball. I have a Brunswick Inferno that FEELS lighter than the other balls I own but not INCREDIBLY light, just light enough (if that makes sense?). So my avg in this morning league is a 102 so far, I bowled 98, 101, and 136. I know I didnt bowl LIGHTS OUT, however I felt pretty good with the way I adjusted to the newer lane conditions and kept with it enough to consistently bowl better! Due to the new lane conditions I was wondering, is a Urethane still optimal, or SHOULD I go with a more reactive ball? Pearl, hybrid, etc? Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse just trying to learn lol. Hopefully you guys can continue being as patient as you have been

It really depends on where your laydown, cross the arrows and breakpoint marks are at. If you have enough room you can start with a laydwon two or three more boards right. Then as the ball starts to hit a little high in the pocket, move your laydown left. These moves assume the same target which would let your ball escape the oil earlier.

Halfie, how is your accuracy? I know about the slower ball speed but how often does the ball cross the board you want at the arrows?

On a GOOD day? About 80% of the time, consistency has been my MAJOR issue, but today it felt better than ever! I pulled across my body maybe 2-3 times verses 15 times in 3 games that I'm used to. Today I kept hitting the board I wanted to CONSTANTLY just kept leaving that pesky 10 pin. I've been increasing my accuracy more and more every week it seems. I have A LOT of room for improvement to say the least :P

Ten pin. Try moving a half board right at the laydown. This should increase your entry angle slightly allowing the 6 to take out the 10. You may want to try a lighter ball to increase ball speed. My worry here is that doing so will throw your timing off.
Good to see your accuracy has come way up.

Well I'm looking at grabbing some 13 lbs balls around late July/ early August. My ball speed with a 13 lbs ball is increased enough to where it'll hit the pins with some OOMPF! I'll try moving half a board right at the laydown and keep you informed on how it goes.

If you can get your speed consistently in double digits you will be able to carry. The combination of better accuracy and more speed will get you to a 150 average this coming season.

Funny you mention 150 because thats actually my goal! My goal average for the fall season is 150. My goal for this summer league is simply to get better and improve my spare game. Everything else I improve and/ or learn throughout is a bonus to me.
