    Wednesday League

What started out as what seemed was going to be a good night, turned into some back row pins and some light hits for me. Targeting was pretty good, got a bit fast a few times on the night.

    214-203-289 = 706

Game 1 started out pretty good with turkey with my Storm Crux, then started to leave some back row pins. 8 pin, 7 pin(which I flagged- Oi Vay!), 9 pin, strike, 4 pin, double and a 2-4-5 in fill of 10th. In 8th frame, rather r than keep moving I decided to go to my Drive. Worked for a few frames.

Game 2 started with Drive and was much of the same 9 pin to start, strike, pocket 7-10, got inside 3-6-10. Switched back to Crux Prime and moved left a board and half. 4 bagger then a 2 pin. 2-4-10 in 10th to finish out the game.

Game 3 Stuck with Crux Prime and got something going with the front 9. Last bowler on other team left a 1 pin in 9th frame and pin setter knocked it over. Had to wait until they could reset a 1 pin of all things. LOL!! Up in the 10th and got a good shot off.

Collected myself for the nervousness to come in 11th shot. Started my pre-shot routine of getting my ball, wiping it off with my shammy, drying my hand off and started to get up on approach. Looked at the rack of pins and there was no 5 pin in the rack. Re-racked, but one thing that I didn't do was to start my pre-shot routine from the very begninning. I never put my ball back down, held on to it the whole time. I did wipe it off again with shammy, dried my hand and then got up on the approach. 11th shot was a bit too fast and left a 2 pin.

Was it in retrospect, the holding on to the ball while I re-racked and not completely resetting myself, or was it the shaky knees and nervousness? LOL!! Oh Well!! Making some progress. Put myself in position twice this week to close it out and came up short.

This league does strike pots every night and when someone misses when their ticket is called, it goes in to a pot that is used at the end of the league. The league is up to an almost $24,000 pot that will be used for strike pot tickets next week. I won a strike pot in game 2 for $140! Next week should be very interesting and could prove to be very fruitful if our team gets our tickets drawn to shoot for some big money.

    Thursday Pepsi Classic late league

Another challenging week in this league. Last night was just a frustrating one with really bad pin carry. I felt like I was shooting really well aside from the 19 single pin leaves I had on the night. 8 10 pins, 5 9 pins, 2 7 pins, 2 4 pins. Just could not get enough strikes going to even score well. Every adjustment made literally did not make a difference LOL!!

    215-189-207-197 = 808

Our team is still in the hunt for our league playoffs.

Continued my sub par bowling this week. Had a rough time keeping myself focused and my accuracy suffered horribly.

    Tuesday
    180-193-235 = 608

    Wednesday
    212-177-200 = 589

    Thursday
    224-267-146-189 = 826

Not much to say other than Blah!! Need to get myself focused. Have a big doubles tournament tomorrow. This tournament will be live streamed by Bowlstreamtv so you might be able to see me tomorrow morning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWNe0cUh2Ek

Wish me luck. My partner and I are excited to compete on a sport pattern. Perfect timing for me as I go to Vegas for Nationals next weekend and compete on May 26-27!!

Not as cool as the Aslan vs. Iceman Invitational...but I may tune in just to lend some bowlingboards.com/forum support!!!

10:45AM Saw VDubtx in the opening pair; since then he's been camera shy. Not sure why he's picking up his swing leg...I thought he was keeping that down after is lessons at the training center. Scoring pace looks high and approaches look a bit tacky. Joel Blanchard looks strong early. As they read off the leaderboard, midway through qualifying, I didn't hear VDub's duo...so they may need to pick things up to get back in the hunt!

11:25AM Vdubtx's team has a big game 5 and have moved into qualifying contention!!!

12:15PM Games 5 and 6 put them back in contention...but VDub struggled with some splits and a low amount of carry in Game 7 on the televised pair.

Thanks for the support! Was a great time bowling on sport conditions against some very well known bowlers. You mentioned it, the approaches were very tacky. Had chances of rain all morning and made it very humid. I bowl this center on Tuesday and Thursdays and they are never tacky, so I chalk it up to the weather.

My partner and I gave it a good run, hit a couple tough pairs, including one of the live streamed pair and carry just did not go our way. Put together a couple nice games to get us up the standings and then hit the stream pair. Have it another good game to close out the town tournament for us to keep my confidence up.

Only made appearance on 2 streamed pairs as we were moving 2 pairs left each game. Brief appearances on the outer pairs on the stream according to my wife and couple friends that were watching as well.

On the day I was +40 over, so a 205 average. I am very happy with that and certainly boosts my confidence. I made all 19 single pin spares on the day, missed 2 makeable opens and only had 6 splits.

High game of 244 and a low of 176. A very nice primer going into Nationals in Vegas next week.

I was wondering if you guys were going to re-enter, but I heard the entry fee was $400 per team (not sure if there was a re-entry discount).

I've never been in tournaments with that high of an entry fee...but I know in some of the local ABT tournaments...the entry fee can get in the $60-$90 area...or in poker tournaments I've played in where you could spend $80-$120...and the worst feeling is when you re-enter...and it doesn't go well...because now you've spent even MORE money and got nowhere.

There were a couple young kids on camera in the 2nd round, who had re-entered, and they were NOT doing well...and you could just see the frustration.

Yeah, had other stuff to do after I bowled so couldn't do reentry squad. Plus another$200 without is more than I would want to spend.

Also has a couple young guys who are really great bowlers that struggled. Hanrahan/Haugh did reenter and they struggled the reentry as well.

I know what I will be working on this summer:
#1 10 pin conversion rate, 10 pins are 44% of my total single pin leaves.
#2 Multi pin spares. Fortunately my usual practice center has Qubica software where I can spot any combo of pins I want.
#3 shooting at all spare leaves with spare ball. I have switched my spare ball to my Fever Pitch Urethane ball and has been working out pretty good.
