County Wide Boys: THS
New Synthetic Over Old Wood Lanes
Once again asked to sub. After my last embarrassing performance, I figured I'd never get asked to sub by any team again.
478 Series: 185-156-137
First game wasn't bad. I just couldn't get lined up. But, the spares were mostly converted.
X, 9 /, 7 /, 9 /, 7 /, 7 /, 8 -, 8 /, X, X 9 /.
As I've said many times before...if you can't carry...you can't afford imperfection.
8 /, X, 8 1, X, X, 7 1, 9 /, 6 -, 9 /, 6 /7.
Switched to the Force Pearl in the 6th frame and did pretty well from that point. But, you can't miss 4 out of 5 single-pins. You just can't.
8 /, 6 2, 9 -, 9 -, 8 1, X, X, 9 /, 9 -, 9 -.

I think my bowling career is coming to a close.
After agreeing to sub tonight, I had a doctor's appointment for a bump on the back of my Achille's tendon. The doctor recommended I avoid physical activity such as running or bowling until I can get it looked at by a specialist. She is concerned that the tendon may rupture. It's been sore lately...usually by the 2nd game of the night...or if I take a long walk or go for a run. The soreness has now started creeping up my calf muscle. It's on my push away leg...so I thought it not a big concern...more worried about my knee on my sliding leg. Well, apparently the right leg does more than just balance me during my delivery...and that push away is putting a great deal of strain on that tendon and lower leg.
Late into Game 1 tonight, I bent a little further than I should have and "tweaked" my knee (left/sliding). This happens once in awhile...but this was significant enough to almost cause me to quit early. And, per the usual...into Game 2...the Achilles was hurting again. If I need surgery on that Achilles...I'm out of action for 5-7 months. Completely out of action.
And it's not just the injuries. I can't bowl. I'm not good at it. I almost got good at it when I was taking lessons 3x per month, practicing, and bowling in 2-3 leagues a week and every Saturday. But, I had to work hard to get good. I have no natural ability. And these last few weeks I've managed to fall from a 195+ average bowler with a potential 700 series on the horizon...to a 150s bowler that can't strike and can't make spares.
So, thats where I am now. A lot of Green in the numbers above...but thats mainly due to the horrible outing I had last time I subbed in this league.
