Went in on Saturday to make-up from when the team didn't bowl due to weather.

Thought I was lined up well, but just inconsistent shot-making.

Switched to the Fireball, but just couldn't seem to carry.

Stayed with the Fireball, but struggled MIGHTILY in the first few frames.

Week 24

Kinda weird that we bowled two nights in a row...and it is against the same team we post-bowled against on Saturday.

I was SO ticked off. Carry was horrible and I couldn't pick up a corner pin to save my life.

Just when I kinda 'gave up' and resigned to throwing my first Dutch 200, I started striking like mad.

Tried to keep things going with the Black Widow Hybrid 2.0, but after leafing a 2-pin on a decent shot...I decided to switch to the Fireball and make a little line adjustment. Same as the game before...carry was off early on, but then I just got in a groove.

Thanks. And, no. Super Bowl Sunday is always a night when half the league doesn't show up. We've talked about having it is a week off...especially bowling in Kansas where the Chiefs have always had a good chance of being in the Super Bowl. I'll probably vote to take it off next year just because of how many teams don't show. And its weird because we essentially bowled the same team we post bowled on Saturday.

Wednesday Night Established Men's League

Week 23

Tied for 1st place, but bowling another really high average team. We were getting 85 pins per game...despite our team having 4 of 5 bowlers averaging over 190.

The Black Widow Hybrid 2.0 was hitting well in warm-ups, so I stuck with it. Would have been a huge game had I picked up more than ZERO spares!

Started out strong, but switched to the Force Pearl in the 7th frame. Was hammering the pocket...but getting ringing 10s and just having bad luck concerning carry. But, I shot my single-pin spares well...and that saved me.

Got derailed by some pulled shots toward the middle of the game. And my lack of spare shooting ability reared it's ugly head again. But, struck out to help us salvage a split.

Sunday Night Established Mixed League

Week 25

Faced off against the last place team, but after getting shelled the last two weeks...I felt a little more pressure to get our team back on track.

680 Series: 214-214 (clean)-252 (clean)

Got off to a good start. I was finally getting the Hammer Black Widow Hybrid 2.0 right enough where it had the room to react and hit the pocket well.

Stuck with the Black Widow Hybrid 2.0 for 8 frames before making the move to the Force Pearl. Wasn't perfect...pushed a couple shots...pulled a couple shots...but I was able to stay clean.

The Force Pearl is such a smooth but powerful ball. I just put a 800/Step 3 surface on it prior to Sunday night and it was working GREAT. A truly amazing ball.

- "Kinda" felt bad for the other team. They are in last place, they were giving us about 50-60 pins per game in handicap. And I put up a near 700 series and just crushed them.

Hoping the slight 'tweak' I made in my release keeps producing benefits. I mean, its just a small visualization thing...to try and get it in my head that the ball needs to go to the RIGHT of the target versus directly ON the target...so the ball goes OUT and then IN versus me trying to hit that exact spot and pulling the shot.

Wednesday Night Established Men's League

Week 24

Holding onto 1st place by a couple points.

A good start to the night. Kinda bummed about the one open...which was a 7-pin that I missed by a LOT.

A total "Dutch 200" type of game where I'd make a bad shot, then get upset and make a good shot. Then, I'd make a bad shot....then I'd get mad and make a good shot. Hard to be too critical when I bowl a clean game...but Game 2 was not the effortless, good game the game before. Switched from the Hammer Black Widow Hybrid 2.0 to the Force Pearl for the 10th frame fill shot.

A few terrible shots...but otherwise a good game. The second shot of the 10th frame was a total "stone 8". It was such a good shot I walked back without even watching it...seemed like a perfect, perfect shot...but nope. Stone 8. Ughhh!

- Raised my average to 198 in this league, tied for my highest average ever and my highest average in a fall/full season since my previous 198 average was in a summer trios league.
- Added another clean game.

Negatives
- Didn't even win ONE card game...despite a 4-of-a-kind (Aces) in one game.
- Our anchor is starting to get "disgruntled" as he's used to being "the man" and now he's routinely getting beat by me (#3 bowler) and the #4 bowler.
- One frame away from $500 Strike-a-Mania pot.
- Two frames away from a clean series.

Not a "great" night...but definitely a "good" night.

Thanks. Yeah...its been a good run. In this league, 7 out of the last 9 games have been 200+ and the spread has been 190-250. However, if you look at just the last 2 weeks, its 5 out of 6 200+ and the spread is only 193-222. Now the biggest challenge is keeping the team in first and keeping the team 'happy'. Our lead/captain has been struggling. Our anchor is getting out-bowled by me and the other two bowlers...so he's starting to get "perturbed". And, it doesn't help that the 2nd place team of high average bowlers is breathing down our neck.

Week 26

Yet ANOTHER night bowling against ourselves. I swear the schedule is messed up. Seems like we're either bowling one team (two times in the last few weeks...one time we didn't show (snow) and one time they didn't show (super bowl weekend)...or we're bowling against ourselves. Oh well, at least we almost get out on time when its only us. "Almost"...

Missed terribly right in the first 3 frames. Switched to the Fireball in the 3rd frame. Managed to right the ship to finish, but the missed 10-pin in the 9th killed me.

Just really disappointed in another two corner pins.

Switched to the Force Pearl in the 2nd frame...and finally managed to convert a 10-pin in the 4th frame. Poor carry early...a terrible shot on the first ball in the 10th...but ran enough strikes together to salvage a 200+ score.

I don't know. I'm bowling better in terms of having a decent shot at 200+ each game. But there are just some nights where spare shooting is so bad...and I just shrug my shoulders because I don't know how to fix it. Do I just come in every other evening and play lowball for an hour? Is there something structurally wrong with how I'm shooting spares? I don't know. And, without a coach...its just "try to make more spares next week".
