    Sunday Night Established Mixed League

Came into the night 4-4 bowling against another 4-4 team.

    Week 3

    640 Series: 211-226 (clean)-203

Was hoping for another shot at a Game 1 300, but left a 7-pin in the 5th and struggled with single-pins the rest of the game going 0-3 including a score-killer in the 9th.
    X, X, X, X, 9 -, X, X, 7 /, 9 -, X 9 -.

Switched to the Brunswick Endeavor in the 2nd frame because I left a pocket 10 on both lanes at the end of Game 1 and was clearly deflecting on the frame 1 strike. The Endeavor was just punishing the pocket. Only failed to strike on a few shots where I missed my target. Better spare shooting than Game 1.
    X, X, 9 /, X, X, X, 9 /, X, 9 /, X, S7 1.

Switched to the Fortera Exile (FE) after 3 straight opens in frames 2 through 4. Should have switched in frame 3 after yet another pocket 10-pin...but oh well. The FE doesn't have the same movement and board coverage that it did when it was newer, but it can still go long and make a nice move into the pocket...I just have to move a bit right to get it to work.
    X, 9 -, S7 -, 8 1, 7 /, X, X, X, X, X 9 /.

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 9.33
    Strikes: 60%
    Spares: 40% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 50% (4/8)
    Most common single-pin leave: 10-pin (6x)
    Also left a single 2-pin and 7-pin.

    Makeable spares: 54% (6/11)
    Multiple Pin spares: 66% (2/3)
    Most common multi-pin leave: 1-2-4 (2x)

    Splits: 0% (0/2)

    Average over 3 games: 211.33.
Average had I picked up all single-pin spares: 224.67.

    Positives
    - Bested the other team's anchor who is decent. He only has a book 185 average, but he's been bowling much better than that the first couple weeks.
    - Was clearly the best bowler on the pair tonight.
    - Always love adding to the clean games total.
    - Always a good night when I bowl a 600+ series.
    - Spare shooting improved after the abysmal Game 1 start.

    Negatives
    - See Below

I gotta keep improving on corner-pin spare conversion. The better I get and the more my form improves...the more corner pins I'm gonna leave and the less multi-pin, non-corner single-pins, and splits I'm gonna leave. I coulda averaged almost 225 tonight if I picked up just 4 corner-pins.

And I certainly am making things tough on myself (and our team)...because I think my average going into next week will be an astounding 207. So, I see some very rough weeks, in the future, in this league...until that average comes down to Earth.

    Wednesday Night Established Men's League

    Week 3

    626 Series: 202-202-222 (clean)

    8 1, X, X, S7 2, X, 9 /, X, X, X, 9 / 9.
First night throwing my new "higher...ish" arsenal. My pro shop guy warned me that the Black Widow hybrid was still a fairly strong ball for lanes that are on the dry side...and he wasn't wrong. I figured the difference in RG (~ +0.31) would cause me to move a few boards right. Nope...pretty much the same line as the Perfect Mindset.

    X, X, X, 6 1, 8 /, 9 /, 8 /, X, X, 5 /X.
After moving left and leaving a 10-pin on the fill shot of Game 1's 10th frame...decided to start Game #2 with the Brunswick Endeavor. Its a great little ball for these drier lanes and performed very well as long as I didn't miss my mark by a foot and a half.

    X, X, X, 9 /, 7 /, X, 8 /, 9 /, X, X S8 1.
Kept things going with the Endeavor and finished strong. Was kinda hoping for a 202-202-202 triplicate...but I guess if I miss the triplicate I would rather miss high than low.

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 9.06 pins
    Strikes: 54%
    Spares: 71% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 100% (5/5)
    Most common single-pin leave: 7-pin (2x)
    Also left a single 2-pin, 9-pin, and 10-pin.

    Makeable spares: 83% (10/12)
    Multiple Pin spares: 71% (5/7)
    Most common multi-pin leave: 6-10 (2x).

    Splits: 0% (0/2)

    Average over 3 games: 208.67.
Average had I picked up all single-pin spares: n/a.

    Positives
    - Team took 3 out of 4 points.
    - I had the highest pin total on my team and was second to the other team's anchor (shot a 702).
    - Second consecutive night (Sunday) with all scores > 200 (6 straight).
    - Spare shooting is much improved with new spare ball drilled for IT inserts.
    - Always happy to add to the clean game total!

    Negatives
    - Not sure if the Black Widow Hybrid 2.0 is going to still be too strong for these lanes.
    - Decent scoring and didn't win one gal darn card game.

So far, the higher RG arsenal looks like its gonna play well at this house. And having the White Dot drilled to accept the VISE inserts seems to help me with my corner-pin conversions. It takes the difference in feel out of the equation.

After my poor start, I came in with a sandbagger average of 170...so I probably had a pretty nice night in terms of handicap game/handicap series.
