It's no fun! I've been on dialysis for close to seven years. I was going through the process to get on the transplant list when i had to have my amputation , so the list went on hold. I will probably start the process again this fall. I still pop in to the two leagues I bowledevery so often to keep in touch with friends
Still love the game but had to quit because of my left leg amptation

Yeah, I'm averaging about 1-3 opens per game...about 6 opens per night.

    Thursday Men's League: THS

    575 Series: 159-183-233

    Was having trouble early...missing right....inconsistent release...just wasn't feeling it.

Tried to settle things down in Game 2...only had one open in the 7th on a single 4-pin...but strikes were few and far between.

Game 3 I started off with a 4-7-9 split...but then just started striking. Was using the Mystic on the left lane and Exile on the right lane....rattled off 6-in-a-row before one of my best shots left a ringing 7-pin in the 8th. Put too much hand in the next shot and left a 3-6...that I chopped. Struck out for a 233...3rd highest score of the season in this league. Took my only point of the night...took high game...and won a $1 sidebet.

    * You'll want to read the portion below for a gross/interesting part to this story...

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 9.00 pins
    Strikes: 51%
    Spares: 53% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 62% (5/8)
    Most common single-pin leave: 4-pin (2x)
    Never left a single 1-pin, 5-pin, nor 6-pin.

    Multiple Pin spares: 42% (3/7)
Most common multi-pin leaves: 3-6 and 8-10 baby split (2x each)

    Splits: 33% (1/3)

    Average over 3 games: 191.67.
Average had I picked up all single-pin spares: 203.00.

Now, the real issue I had in Game 3 was a stomach issue. Lets just say I had to make two trips to the bathroom and it wasn't for a quick 'tinkle'. Very difficult to bowl when going to the bathroom constantly...you gotta try not to get your bowling hand/thumb wet while still washing your hands afterwards...you got toilet paper sticking to your thumb tape...not to mention you gotta go back out there while your teammates and the other team are sitting there waiting 'impatiently' for you to return.

It felt good to win high game in the 3rd game...because the pro on our team was giving me a bunch of 'poo' early on...teasing me about how I like to point out that I'm one of the top bowlers in individual points standings...and then when I mentioned I got my my high game of season the previous Friday, he joked, "Was it a 204?" So...games like my 3rd game are really valuable to remind me that I'm capable of beating those kind of guys.

Now...can it translate into a strong Friday performance??

    Friday Mixed League: THS

Coming off a season high 246 the last game of last Friday and coming off the 3rd game 233 the previous night in my Thursday league...I thought I might try to put more than one good game together and start getting some 600 series for the first time in quite awhile.

    526 Series: 209-193-124

Game 1 was my best game. Made a few bad shots where I missed right...but some carried and those that left single-pins I converted. Out of 11 first ball shots, only 1 time did I knock over less than 9 pins....a 1-2-10 washout in the 5th that ruined my bid for a clean game.

    Game 2 I almost had my first ever Dutch 200: X, 9 /, X, 8 /, X, 9 /, X, 9 / through 8 frames. But, in the 9th I left a pocket 7-10 instead of striking. I finally doubled in the 10th to salvage a 193.

Game 3...the wheels came off. A terrible shot in the 2nd frame led to an open. Then, a 4-6-7 split. Then a pulled shot led to another open in the 4th frame. A 4-7-10 split in the 6th was followed by a 9 /, X before I missed my first two single pins in the 9th and 10th.

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 8.91 pins
    Strikes: 45%
    Spares: 52% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 80% (8/10)
    Most common single-pin leave: 10-pin (3x)
    Never left a single 1-pin, 3-pin, 5-pin, nor 8-pin.

    Multiple Pin spares: 14% (1/7)
    Most common multi-pin leave: n/a

    Splits: 0% (0/3)

    Average over 3 games: 175.33.
Average had I picked up all single-pin spares: 182.67.

Was dealing with a sore ring finger on my bowling hand due to me biting the nail and causing some cuticle damage around the nail. Two weeks ago I did it to the middle finger on the bowling hand...now it was the ring finger. Could barely get the finger in the ball on any of my strike balls.

Really disappointing. After two games that were 1 frame (each) away from being clean....with perfect single-pin spare shooting...to end the night in the low 500s...below my average in the league...not be able to sweep all 7 points...just a miserable way to finish what was otherwise a decent night of bowling.

    Thursday Men's League: THS

    604 Series: 161-242 (clean)-201

Was having trouble early...the Grudge Hybrid just didn't seem like the right choice early on. I should have made a ball change after the first or second frame...but thought I could work around it. Made a bad first shot in the 5th and guttered followed by a 4-7-10 split in the 6th. Made the ball change in the 8th...but left a 2-4-10...then missed a single 10-pin in the 9th before doubling in the 10th to end up with a disappointing 161.

Still had to make a couple minor adjustments in the first couple frames of Game 2...but then settled in and ran off a 4-bagger before I started to lose my line again. After a couple spares, I decided another ball change was in order and put together a turkey before pulling the final shot and getting an 8-count on the final ball.

Game 3 I just made a few bad shots...one of which resulted in a 3-10 baby split that I couldn't convert. Other than that it was a clean endeavor.

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 8.77 pins
    Strikes: 51%
    Spares: 60% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 75% (3/4)
    Most common single-pin leave: 10-pin (3x)
    Also left a single 4-pin.

    Multiple Pin spares: 54% (6/11)
    Most common multi-pin leaves: 3-6 (2x)

    Splits: 0% (0/4)

    Average over 3 games: 201.33.
Average had I picked up all single-pin spares: 205.00.

I'm happy that I managed my first 600+ series since early January. And, other than a struggle with the Grudge Hybrid in Game 1, I was good shots....halfway decent carry...overall a good night.

    Friday Mixed League: THS

Put together a couple good games last Friday and had a 600 Series the night before...so I was hopeful this would be a continuation of the marginal success.

    552 Series: 177-202-173

Only opens in Game 1 were a 3-10 baby split and a 1-2-10 washout. But, I couldn't run any strikes together and was struggling with two lanes that were playing quite a bit differently.

Game 2 was more of the same. A missed 3-9-10 split in the 4th and a missed 10-pin in the 6th...but I was able to run 4 strikes together to finish strong and salvage a 200+ game.

Game 3 was the same story as Games 1 and 2. Opened in the 1st frame on a 10-pin, opened again in the 3rd on the Big 4, and again in the 7th on a 6-7 split. I was only able to salvage a 170+ game because when I did strike it seemed to come in pairs.

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 8.94 pins
    Strikes: 51%
    Spares: 50% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 60% (3/5)
    Most common single-pin leave: 7-pin and 10-pin (2x each)
    Also left a single 9-pin.

    Multiple Pin spares: 45% (5/11)
    Most common multi-pin leave: n/a

    Splits: 0% (0/5)

    Average over 3 games: 184.00.
Average had I picked up all single-pin spares: 191.67.

I again felt like I was making good shots and am getting my timing and form back. Kinda stinks it took my nearly the entire season...but that's what happens when you don't have coaching and have to fight your way through the struggles yourself.

This center is a bit tougher than the Thursday center. The approaches are stickier...so I have to wear a #10 sole...which results in some balance issues. The center seems to but down a wider pattern...but a very low volume pattern that transitions quickly. Usually by Game 3, you can't really just adjust off your last shot...you almost need to adjust assuming your last adjustment isn't enough.

We bowled the blind this week and bowled well enough to get all of our points...so we 'should' be out of the cellar finally.

    Thursday Men's League: THS

    505 Series: 177-159-169

Couldn't run any strikes together in Game 1.

Game 2 I guttered twice on the first ball only to spare the frame. But again...couldn't seem to carry.

Game 3 was more of the same...with an extra split mixed in.

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 8.21 pins
    Strikes: 33%
    Spares: 60% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 66% (6/9)
    Most common single-pin leave: 10-pin (5x)
    Also left a single 9-pin and 7-pin (3x).

    Multiple Pin spares: 54% (6/11)
Most common multi-pin leaves: Full Rack and 6-10 (2x each)

    Splits: 20% (1/5)

    Average over 3 games: 168.33.
Average had I picked up all single-pin spares: 177.00.

Lost all individual for one of the few times this season. Just didn't have any carry. I was hitting the pocket...making adjustments...changing balls...doing everything I could think of to try and right the ship...nothing was working. Kinda hard to score well in bowling when you only are able to double twice the entire night.

    Friday Mixed League: THS

    533 Series: 142-169-222

Terribly bad shooting in Game 1. Two strikes, three spares, and four open frames on multi-pin leaves.

Game 2 was even worse. One strike in the first 8 frames...not one frame in two games where I left a single-pin...but I struck out in the 9th and 10th to keep from a complete embarassment.

Game 3 I was clean all except a 1-2-4-10 washout in the 4th. Also, finally saw a few single-pins to shoot at.

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 8.68 pins
    Strikes: 44%
    Spares: 50% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 100% (3/3)

    Too many bad shots early.

    Thursday Men's League: THS

    567 Series: 191-166-210

Opened in the 4th, 5th, and 6th on a 4-7-9 split, single 4-pin, and Big 4 split. But, struck 6 times on 12 shots to salvage a respectable score.

Game 2 I switched to the Fortera Exile but it was more of the same. Struck 6 times on 10 shots. But, I opened in the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 10th on a 9-10 split, 2-4-10 split, and on two single 10-pins. All I needed was one less open and I'd have beaten my opponent that game and swept him for the night. I beat him by around 20 pins scratch, but he edged me out by a couple pins with his handicap advantage.

Game 3 I switched to the Rhino Gold. Only one open in the 4th on a 3-6 leave. Unfortunately, that open was the only non-strike between the 2nd and 7th frames; interrupting a potential 6-bagger.

    PinPal Stats:
    First Ball Average: 9.06 pins
    Strikes: 51%
    Spares: 42% picked up

    Single Pin spares: 50% (6/9)
    Most common single-pin leave: 10-pin (3x)
    Also left a single 2-pin, 4-pin, and 9-pin.

    Multiple Pin spares: 37% (3/8)
    Most common multi-pin leaves: 3-6 (2x)

    Splits: 0% (0/4)

    Average over 3 games: 189.00.
Average had I picked up all single-pin spares: 199.33.

Saw 2 guys shoot 300s...one of which shot a 300-296-215 for an 811. Being in a league like that...where 300s are a weekly event....I think ya lose focus on spares. As soon as you leave a spare, you think, "Well, screw it...game over."

Not happy with my spare shooting...it really hurt my scores and cost me a sweep of an inferior opponent...but at least I was carrying better on the majority of my shots. An over-average night is an over-average night.
