Not only have I used the wrong ball, but missing 10-pins, that's my specialty!
There's just something about a straight shot that I cannot get down. Always hooking my spare ball a tad lol
Bowling in my league yesterday, I got off to a good start (a 278) but really struggled compensating for HEAVY carry-down in game #2 (172), throwing my new fvorite ball - the Sync. In game 2 I left 5 10's in a row and missed three of them....In game three, I switched to a Disturbed and got offf to a good start - xx9/x and then pulled a bone-head maneuver. Not thinking, I picked the wrong ball off the ball return (my SYNC) and threw a pocket 7-10. How can anyone do something so bone-headed? This will never happen again...btw, I got one pin of the 7-10, put the Sync back in the bag, and bowled the rest of the game with the Disturbed, striking out the rest of the way.
Please tell me I am not the only bone-head in the group??? Anyone else ever pick up the wrong ball?
Jay

I picked up my First Blood to shoot a spare the other night. It was coming out of my hand before I realized it wasn't my spare ball. Doh!
Needless to say I missed it the shot.

Can't say that I have actually picked up the ball and sent it down the lane without thinking about/looking which ball I had in my hands. During my approach when I get set, I always look at my ball while getting my fingers/thumb set in it. I have picked up wrong ball and returned back to the ball return to get the correct one though. I can see how it would happen though, you sometime get so caught up in the shot, or mind is somewhere else.

Not very often, but I've thrown the wrong ball from time to time. Most of the time I realize that it's not the ball I want as I'm picking it up.
I try to minimize the problem by only having the strike ball I intend to use on the ball return. I leave my spare ball on the rack under the scorer's table until I need it. I also leave my alternate strike ball there.

Lol...Jay, no, that's never happened to me. You must be getting old :P
I have been on the approach looking at the shot and changed my mind as to which ball I wan't to use, but never grabbed the wrong one and played it without realising it.

Actually in yesterday's league there was an open lane next to us, so I put my spare over there and made sure I didn't grab it :P
you should never have more than 1 ball up there anyways but no I have never done this - oh probably because 5-6 years ago I threw out all my balls except one so I just use one ball and that is it. the pro shop guy I deal with does the same. the main reason I did this was I was sick of dragging a 3 ball bag around. that and I am not on the tour.
