    12 180 160 215 555

Well last night wasn't my shining hour. 180-160-215 = 555

I committed the cardinal sin, instead of just going out there and bowling, I was out there trying to do too many new things with my bowling. Like altering my swing, form etc.

Also I was using the new ball I won. For those that don't know, I won a Brunswick Meanstreak Beatdown.

Since my org. driller retired, I tried Drew at the lanes here. I believe he did a good job.

We used the latest grip spec's and PAP I had (which I had on my Slant HD that cracked and hardly had a chance to use) plus I dropped a size in thumb insert. so the ball was coming off faster and cleaner.

So had to get use to that and the ball which I had only threw 3 games on trying the fit out after he drilled it.

The ball rolled a bit different than my others, The layout he said is what most people would call a 5" X 4" with the Pin in the ring finger. (The D.A. is I believe 70X5X60)

He said it would be a little more midlane and smoother off the spot compared to my others and I'd say it was. The ball had a very smooth reaction and it started earlier.

In some ways the first two games weren't too bad, I only had two opens in each game. and two of those were big splits (one those cost me a 200 game in the first game).

The big problem was that my speed and accuracy was off, those first two games because of trying the new stuff.

The 3rd game I got smart, quit the new stuff. My accuracy and speed went back up and I got feel for the ball more.

5th frame I made a move left and started throwing across third arrow and started striking. (XXX9/X?/X I think thats how it went).

Right handed Stroker, high track ,about 13 degree axis tilt. PAP is located 5 9/16” over 1 3/4” up.Speed ave. about 14 mph at the pins. Medium rev’s.High Game 300, High series 798

Well the team didn't do too well tonight we went 2-5, the team bowled average that's all and the other team was over ave. a bit.

But I did pretty good, all games were clean. it was my second night using the Beatdown and was starting to get the feel of it.

First game (225) started off playing inside standing about 30 and shooting 3rd arrow, the ball was smooth and the earlier breakpoint was working well.

The first half of the second game (206) my line started burning up, so had to shoot a few spares. I made the move in the 5th frame, but I didn't go left. I moved right 5 boards with my feet and target, this got me back on the pocket and strung a few strikes.

Third game (215) did a 2:2 move left to stay on the pocket, only had to shoot a few simple spares.

    14 169 169 172 510

Well last night was a horrible mess, 169-169-172=510 and lost all the games.

We bowled on lanes 1-2 those lanes are a toss up as for what the night will be, either your highest scores or the worst. That's where all the open bowling, parties etc. happen. and it's right where they wheel the lane machine out from the back. So the approaches are always wonky.

Lanes 1-2 are where they start oiling, so they usually make two pass's on lane one. One to prime the machine, the second to oil it.

They started by doing lane 1, then they skipped lane 2 because of open bowlers on it. They oiled about 4 pairs then came back to lane 2. So you know lane 2 is going to be totally different than 1.

Then we found out the other team prebowled (nobody had informed me before hand, not that I would have cared).

Games 1&2 I made the mistake of not changing balls and line. I was using the Beatdown (3rd arrow) on lane 2 it worked okay, but on 1 it would just slide right and hang. Moved right and changed mark, but the ball would start heading toward the nose then.

Half way through the 2nd game, changed balls (used my storm pyro) and was throwing about 8 at the arrow and started doing better.

3rd game thought I could finish with about a 225, but the last couple of frames went south.

Tenth frame needed two strikes and 2 pins to win, got the first strike and then left a solid ten on the next shot. Pick it and we lose by one, I missed it so lost by 2.

Well another lackluster week, was hitting the pocket okay. but was having to shoot a lot of spares anyway.

We won the first game by 6 pins and lost the 2nd by 14. Third game we lost by a 132 pins!

Well last night was the end of the half, Thank God! at least we won 2 points so we didn't come in tied for dead last. I think this was the worst first half my team has had.

Here it is position round how'd we do?
My GF shoots a 294 series, 93 pins under ave.
My other female shoots a 216 series, 60 pins under ave.
The other guy on the my team, hurts his knee in warmup, so we use his blind a whopping 118. for a 354 series. 30 pins under ave.

and my super series of 550 (181-174-195) 20 pins under ave.

really my series was pretty clean, just didn't add up to anything. (Boy I was shooting a lot of ten pins.)

My fault I should have changed balls early, I was using the beatdown and it was just too dry (reason for the ten pins IMO)

I could swing it out and hit the pocket but was leaving the corner, if I moved inside I could carry it good But I would pull it a lot.

Last game I changed balls after 2-3 frames and started pulling the game back up, but it was to late.

The worst thing out of all this is, I was sitting there watching everyone elses ball And knew exactly what it was going to do.

I should have known better, I looked at the lanes before we bowled (ours and the ones on the left and right of us).

There was a afternoon league just got done. I looked at the heads and could see the pattern was destroyed from 2nd arrow to 4th.

I then looked at them after they oiled, you could still the tracks from the earlier league on ours and the left lanes. It was like the lanes were half brokedown already.

The other thing is looking at the lanes on the right (they oil left to right), was how different they were.

You see the the oiler quit half way down, the battery died. So they pulled it back and plugged it in and recharged it and redid them.

What a difference it was! Those lanes had a lot better head oil, you didn't see those tracks on them at all. They really need to maintenance that machine and put a new battery in it.

I should have known better and started with a different ball, well start of the second half in 2 weeks I'm going to try to play smarter.

    20 156 200 174 530
    21 202 198 235 635

Lasts weeks scores were not much 156-200-174=530

Well we're 3 weeks into the 2nd half at least last night my scores improved. 202-198-235=635

I shot a bucket load of 10 pins the first two games, the third I moved left and started shooting 13-14 at the arrows.

I think I got the surface dialed in better on the Meanstreak Beatdown.

week 19 I used the OOB surface steps(500/4000) as the starting point, Naturally this looked different than the org. oob. The ball reacted pretty similar though, but its just a little too early on the THS here unless I play deep too begin with or had some more speed.

week 20 I used a basically a 500/4000/4000 light on the 500 and more sides on the 4000. But a similar reaction to above just a slight increase in length.
(caveat we bowled on 1&2 this is where they start oiling and prime the machine) but I was all over the place also.

week 21 last night, I went with the 500/4000 plus Brunswicks Royal Shine. Okay now we are seeing something, I was playing around 2nd arrow. I had the room to the outside, but I tend to pull it a lot.

If I pulled it, the ball would set okay but tended to leave single pin spares several 10's.

    First game:
    9/-9/-X-X-9/-X-X-9-9/-9/8
    2nd game was similar

Third game I moved left and moved my mark in to about 13-14 at the arrows. A lot better shot I should have done something similar at the start, but wasn't sure just how the ball would react.

Third game would have been a 257, if I struck out the 10th.

Okay, tonight was interesting we bowled a team with two bowlers establishing average a guy and girl.

The girl winds up with a 197 average, the guy a 246 average!

My team bowled a little over average every game and they spotted us 236 pins. I shot 181-238-199=618

We lost the first game by 2 pins, the second game we won by 8 pins, the third we lost by 29 (the guy shot 290!).

Well the newest surface I tried on the Beatdown worked a lot better, 500/4000/royal compound/royal shine.

Well here we are basically dead last and on a good night we win one game.

So tonight we are playing Drews team (he runs the pro shop and has a 247 ave) they have the highest team ave of the league at 847.

Well they are spotting us only 265 pins and we are missing one person. I figure we'll lose everything, but I'd try to at least not embarrass myself and do my best to try and keep up with drew.

My GF bowled 47 POA and my other female bowled 13 POA and I bowled 91 POA.

Well my team surprised me and we won one game by one pin! It was the first game and Drews team was slow starting. We lost the other two but kept it close within 40 pins. But we felt good anyway we did our best.

I kept up with drew for two games! and the third wasn't bad and was feeling good about shooting 661.(and I at least didn't get beat by the pregnant girl she shot 618) Drew and the other guy both shot 700's. I did my best to play about the same line they did so I think that helped. I was using the DUDE.

Standing at 25 shooting about 12 at the arrows.

    Here's how we compared

The majority of those 9 counts were 10 pins. The rest were other back row pins.
