The National Championship Youth Tournaments and some local youth tournaments are using the PBA patterns already.
The JBT championships in Las Vegas applied the not so easy "Route 66 and "The Highway To Hell" patterns for their Championship this summer.
And yes the youths at Milwaukie Bowl in Oregon have seen their averages drop by about 15 to 20 pins on the PBA Expierence league. However some tournaments will use that average after adding to it with the PBA conversion chart. So if your league is sanctioned, beware it just might become your highest average as you improve.
But you are right about it being good for the bowling skills. The majority of the bowlers at Milwaukie Bowl are tournament bowlers both young and old. And all of them agree that after bowling on the PBA league, they tend to find the house shot at most centers much easier.
I know they have a HUGE advantage over those who do not bowl the PBA Expierence patterns.
