Hang in there. It's tough on the "grown up" patterns...when your miss room shrinks that much...but it's more meaningful in the long run.

    Buddies Winter Challenge 11/6/23 (Week9)

    Pattern: Junior Gold 50'??

    Scores: 126, 143, 176,445 series

I thought this was supposed to be the last week on the Junior Gold 40' pattern but it certainly didn't play the same even though I was crossing on the same three pairs. What makes it confusing is that it seems like with the Junior gold patterns, no matter how long the pattern is, some people can play up the gutter. Didn't help that I was back to atrocious spare shooting the first two games.

    Buddies Winter Challenge 11/13/23 (Week10)

    Pattern: Junior Gold 50'

    Scores: 164, 152, 168, 484 series

I'm pretty sure that we were indeed on the advertised pattern. This week it seemed like the outside line was the one to play. Still seems weird to see throwing urethane out to the two board and making it back to the pocket on a pattern this long. Started the first and second games with strikes followed by two opens. Third game started with a spare and then one open. It was looking to be a better game but the first ball in the tenth left a 2-5-7. I should have aimed between the 2 & 5 but I thought I could cover the baby split and kick the 2 into the 5, Tugged it just a bit and only hit the 7.

    Buddies Winter Challenge 11/27/23 (Week12)

    Pattern: Junior Gold 50'

    Scores: 197, 150, 141 series

For some reason I thought I had posted last week's scores. I recall they were similar to week 10, maybe 20 pins lower for the series. Only open first game was a 2-4-5-7 that I tried to hook at and only managed to pick off the 5 pin. Changed balls two frames in to game two. Started with three opens, all three were ones that I think I should make. Last game I think I just ran out of gas.

    Buddies Winter Challenge 12/4/23 (Week13)

    Pattern: 2023 Junior Gold advancers R1 #5. 41'

    Scores: 155, 154, 212, 521 series

First game was my normal not quite loose, not quite sure where I should be playing, and just a bit off in executing shots. Second game started off clean and then I had 4 open frames to close. Only one of them was a split. The last game started with a turkey and stayed clean the rest of the way.

Yeah...probably felt good to get that clean 212 after the struggles early.

    Buddies Winter Challenge 12/11/23 (Week14)

    Pattern: 2023 Junior Gold advancers R1 #5. 41'

    Scores: 128, 173, 167, 468 series

I usually shoot for being at the alley half an hour before league is scheduled to start. That gives me ample time to find out what lane I'm starting on, get some coffee from the snack bar, get my stuff out, check the approaches etc. This week I went to our nephew's house for a birthday party for his 6 year old daughter. I got to the center 10 minutes before we were supposed to start. There were no standings sheets out, after finding my lane a friend came up and started asking for advise about a problem with his house before I even had my coat off. I was able to get my coffee and change into my bowling shoes before the lanes came on for practice, but no time to really loosen up and mentally shift to bowling mode.

    Buddies Winter Challenge 12/18/23 (Week15)

    Pattern: 2023 Junior Gold advancers R1 #5. 41'

    Scores: 144, 166, 179, 489 series

Better than last week, no drama over getting to the lanes on time. However it was one of those nights where everything I tried in practice I got to strike within a frame or two. Once the game started I couldn't hit the pocket with anything. in the 1 v 1 portion of the scoring I lost the first two games and total pin fall. Good chance I will drop back down a place in the standings.
