I don't think I really figured it out, but at least I started executing better shots half way through game 1 and got some lucky breaks, like three Brooklyn strikes in a row, in game two. Had dropped from 19th to 20th last week will probably trade places again this week.

Scores:141, 141, 182, 464 series

In spite of these scores I still tried my hand at the CT State USBC Masters tournament Saturday.
I didn't write down the name of the pattern but it was 40' and roughly a 2:1 ratio.
Scores: 123, 155, 148, 134, 203. The cuts for both squads wherein the negative, in short if my low games had been in the 170s-180s I might have had a chance.

Yes. After three weeks average was 199, team was in first place. Hope it keeps going.

Buddies Summer Challenge Week 7 7/14/25

Set 1: 146, 153, 299 total

Set 2: 168, 182, 350 total

I subbed for one of our junior bowlers who is out in Wisconsin for the Junior Gold Tournament. Being a scratch singles league Juniors are allowed to bowl in it. Their winning go into their SMART account. An adult can sub for a kid, a kid cannot sub for an adult.

The first set there were only three of us on the pair and after practice none of us had a good look. Had the typical sport pattern "miss right and be thankful if you only leave a bucket, miss left and be happy if your ball even touches the headpin". My opponent was not there and did not have a sub. Therefore I had to beat 172 to win a game. I had the highest score on the pair each game and earned not a single point.
Second set was better especially since I had a live opponent. Won the first game by 9 and the second by 10.

All in all not a bad night. Scores went up each game and I managed to win half the point available for the person I was subbing for.

Buddies Summer Challenge Week 9 7/28/25

Set 1: 211, 145, 356 total

Set 2: 134, 151, 285 total

Subbed again for one of the kids whose family decided that a vacation was more important than bowling
Set 1 was supposed to be against the bowler currently in 3rd place. He is on vacation and the sub he had, while no longer a regular in the sport league, still has one of the sweetest releases from someone not in the PBA. Game one I was really relaxed, only had two really errant throws and won the game. Game two started with a miss on an easy spare. Frame two my thumb stuck nearly dislocating my shoulder and pulling me over the foul line. the next four shots were very tentative and I wound up losing total wood by 9 pins.

Set 2 was supposed to be on lanes 15-16. That pair broke down around frame 6 and we had to move to the breakdown pair 41-42.I was bowling against one of the young guys from the pro shop who was very happy to be on the breakdown pair. Nutmeg bowl was built as a 40 lane center in 1958 or 59. Lanes 41-56 were added maybe 10 years later, they tend to play much differently than the low end, and the are also the winter home of the sport league. I was fishing around and getting worse and worse, (three splits to end the game.) My opponent was on pace for a 250+ game but also ended with a couple of splits. I finally got lined up in the 8th frame ended with a double, a spare and a decent fill to salvage 2 more points.
