    I'm borrowing Aslan's comment :
-" Strike rate was not good.
    - Physical game wasn't where I need it to be."
I think I'm gonna trademark those given how many times I have to use them.

Buddies Winter Challenge Week 25, 3/9/26

    Pattern: Junior Gold U18B (2025) 36'

    Scores:
    213, 160, 170, 543 Total

We had one of the top senior bowlers in our state, and one of the best high school bowlers in the country on our pair. Fortunately I was bowling against one of our former junior bowlers. Three of us scored fairly well the first game. Tim, the other senior on the pair, was in the 230s, the high school girl had a 202. Those of us who did well game one struggled to find the right line on the next pair with two of us dropping to 160. My opponent, who lost game one by 99 pins shot 221. I started the last game with three opens in a row, two of them being splits. Lost by a pin.

Thats some serious competition. I remember when I was bowling out in California and there was a 'kid' named Wesley Low...who was running wild and beating every level of competition. I never had to bowl him...but I can only imagine how inferior I'd have felt up against someone like that.

Later, in Iowa, I bowled in a league where Tom Hess had a team. But, given I was the worst player on our 5-man team...I never felt too much pressure when we bowled his team. Only the pressure not to completely embarrass myself.

Smokey this is not 'Nam', this is bowling. There are rules. Proud two-time winner of a bowlingboards.com weekly ball give-away!

Buddies Winter Challenge Week 26, 3/16/26

    Pattern: Junior Gold U18B (2025) 36'

    Scores:
    160,142, 178, 480 Total

Almost the same foursome as last week, same pattern, started one pair over, different results. last week my opponent started with an awful game and got better so I was able to win one game and take wood, good for 40 points total. This week he started strong and then fell apart, letting me win two games plus wood for 50 points.

Buddies Winter Challenge Week 27, 3/23/26

    Pattern: Junior Gold U18B (2025) 39'

    Scores:
    155, 193, 147, 495 Total

One of the guys was insisting that we were still going to be on last week's pattern, almost everyone else said we should be on this one. I usually shoot a couple of 10 pins and a couple 7s during warm-ups. After making the first 7 pin I looked like I was channeling Marshal Kent in his 3rd frame against Boog Krol. First game only one person on the pair was lined up, still I was at least making most of my spares and my opponent wasn't. Moved to 41-42 and he started with a spare then a double. I had a Brooklyn strike, spare, pocket strike, and said I think I'm going to have to shoot higher than 155 to beat you this game. This pair usually plays more like a house shot so both our carry percentages went up the difference was that he had two opens to my one and won by 7 pins. Moving on to 43-44 went back to Marshall vs Boog. Left a 4-5-7 that I made, a 4-6-7 (twice) 6-7-10 (also twice) and a bunch of other things I'd rather not remember. I'm amazed that I held on to total by 2 pins.
