Question Are casual bowlers these days too easy to impress?

I've been…flattered….by three different people in the last 2 months while bowling. These comments have range from "I was watching you and you are quite impressive" to "Wow man…I wish I could bowl like you!" to even one person in my friday league asking the league secretary where she came across "the pro""

Now listen…I SUCK!! Like, not average…not "kinda good"…not "experienced/consistent"…I'm HORRIBLE. I'm embarrassing to watch bowl. Ask Bunny…she's SEEN it. Ask Mike White…he's already been very candid that I am a horrible, horrible bowler.

So when someone comes up to me and compliments me like that…I don't know what to say. I just stand there and smile and mumble…because I don't know how to respond. I WANT to say, "Wow…you're easily impressed." Or maybe just say, "well thank you for saying that, I appreciate it." But it's SO shocking…that I'm dumbfounded by it.

I mean, I scored between 109 and 179 tonight with an average over 12 games of 133. How is that "impressive"?? It made me want to kick the ball return and throw my ball down the hallway…yet apparently…133 is impressive to some folks.

Eh....some people are just easily impressed. I've had kids stand there with their parents and watch me for 5 minutes and ask how I make the ball hook so much and give me all kinds of compliments, and I've been on lanes next to people and rolled strike after strike for 250 without any of them even batting an eye. Some people are impressed if it looks like you know what you're doing, and some people don't really care.

But if they were impressed by 133, I'd say yea, they're easily impressed :P

When someone asks me to show them how to hook the ball like I do I tell them "the last thing you would EVER want to do is bowl like I do."

I get it from time to time. From non bowlers I brush it off as just being able to strike twice is impressive to non bowlers. I've gotten compliments from coaches a few times but it could just be they were trying to butter me up to get some lessons from them. I've never been evaluated but im sure there are many things wrong with my game

Ok Aslan, ,,, ok,,, you have pushed my botton! I do not bowl in the 65 year old leagues! In fact, I was ask to leave all seniors leagues around here,, and bowl with guys your age to teach many of the better bowlers, like yourself, (who their daddy is!!)!

Yes,,, I wish we lived closer, I would video a challenge match called: ( Mature grown-up Super Hero adult, against M-mature not at normal peak of natural growth and development mentally challenged and physically 2 Aslan! lol

I would go easy on you, knowing what a fragile thing self-esteem can be for a guy pushing 40, and womanless!! LOL

Iceman I don't think you could just challenge him directly. More likely, you'd have to first challenge, bowl, and beat the flooding mass of bowlers who rush adore him with praise and admiration of his 160-average bowling prowess. All the while Aslan would sit on his throne, drinking gin and tonics, with no lady by his side, cackling an evil laugh like some kind of awkward, sad, celibant, bowling super-villain.
