    Thumbs up Played The Inside

Had league play against a couple of big crankers who were tearing up my outside line. First game was rough 137 ouch! Really over/under.

Then I moved inside first to 22 then 24 ended up at 25. Stayed just inside their track around the 4 arrow then threw a 187 and 213.

Last game open in the 9th but then struck out. Coulda been in the 240's. Not my high game but felt pretty good about making adjustments and not just staying in the same torn up area wondering why the heck I can't throw a strike.

Feeling good about the progress I've made in the last few months. We joined our first league in March so it's been less than a year and I was off for 2 1/2 months after surgery in June.

I'm no Iceman but I'm holding my own!!

Nice adjustment! Imo this is one of the benefits of being a borderline cranker, very rarely do other people play as deep as i do so essentially i have oil to myself

Whoa, you were playing way inside. Are you a righty and playing 22-25 board? At what point were you targetting? Arrows? Foul line?

I am a righty and put some ok revs on my balls and typically play between 15-20 at the arrows.

Yep. Ended up at the 25 board targeting the 4 arrow for the last game. I line up my left big toe with my starting board. I usually start out around the 15 board and target the 2 arrow. The most I've gone left is the 20 board targeting the 3 arrow. By the end of the first game I had moved to that point (20 board 3 arrow moving by two boards twice then one.)

Started out the second game from there (20 targeting 3 arrow) then moved a couple of boards to the 22 targeting a little inside the 3 arrow after a few frames. Then moved 2 more boards to the 24 board targeting in between the 3 and 4 arrow.

Started out the 3rd game from 24 targeting in between the 3 and 4 arrow but moved 1 board to the 25 targeted just outside the 4 arrow after a few frames for the rest of the game.

I don't have a lot of revs but I have been working on a bunch of different things like rolling the ball back a little on my wrist, turning the ball off my fingers on the release, changing my entry angle, targeting (having a laydown point and throwing out to the target) and different adjustments. I was very surprised myself! Stuck with the First Blood. Tried the HRP early but it wasn't reading the friction.

Was in a funk with my spares the last few outings so picked up the HYP for a few center covers and got my feel back. (Might have to get a thumb slug for my spare or consider an IT thumb slug.)

I've gotten some very nice compliments on my game recently. All from scratch bowlers. One 800 leaguer has watched me bowl for the last few months at the Saturday Asher/Baker Clinic and Sunday tourneys so maybe there's something to it.

Oh boy, I'm getting a big head about my bowling and thus will bowl a crappy series on my next outing!

    Gutters and strikes!!

That's actually really deep for a stroker. I rev it up pretty good and I can't remember the last time I played that deep at my home house. The oil is pretty long though. I practiced 10 games Sunday with a group of other guys and never got much deeper than about 11.

Actually if I plan on competing in senior stuff after I turn 50 next year I'd better start playing shots that require me to bowl 4th arrow or deeper. That really is not a strong suit for me right now.

Was just trying to do something different. Anything right of the 2 arrow was a washout. Didn't know it was considered "super" deep. Worked for me last night! Maybe ignorance was bliss in this case!!

I'm not a full roller by any means, definitely not a cranker but I do get good movement on the ball. And I've been working on getting more revs recently. Maybe I'm more of a tweener now. I've always been a "natural" and have excelled in a variety of sports throughout my life.

Like I said I've been complemented on my form by some very good bowlers recently. Even got invited to some super swanky private lanes that are by invitation only.

That being said I am pretty new to the sport and have no delusions of grandeur. I am fully aware that every game has the possibility of complete and total humiliation!

I'm lucky to be bowling actually and try to remind myself of that when those crap games happen!

Keep up the good bowling Bunny. Looks like you found some good adjustments and are headed in the right direction.

The deepest I've gone as far as targeting is between the 4th and 5th arrow standing with my left heel on the far left dot of the approach.

Playing inside is something I've only recently "discovered". I was always trying to get the ball to go right by moving further and further left...then pretty soon I'd be throwing it directly in the gutter on the right side. But then I discovered moving my target inside as I moved left...and also targeting the dots instead of the arrows so that I'm aiming at a "line" more so than a "target" and that seemed to help.

I think two keys (for me anyway) were:

    1) Aim more for the dots...recognizing that the dot you're aiming at will be left of the triangle you're aiming at...not the same board.
    2) Don't push the ball toward your target...push it straight ahead and walk straight ahead. If you're playing inside and targeting outside...and you push towards the target...you (or at least for me) end up drifting towards the target on the approach.

i dont think its deep for a stroker at all a lot people dont understand when a stroker plays vs high rev players we have to make huge changes cuz we are running into your part where u started and beat up thats why ill normaly play stroker for a game an half then ill switch and go where my buddy is playing and just go from there i like knowing i can add iver 100 more revs to my ball just by cupping my wirst on my down swing =D if i could just get out this slump i could be very dangerous ( all spares are picked up as a stroker )
